Trying to plan for our trip! I have some questions about the BCV studios. I am not a DVC member, but have rented points. I don't know if that will factor in to any of these... Thanks for any help! Shan :)

Hair dryers?
Iron and ironing board?
Can I request housekeeping to bring us up extra pillows?
Anyone notice if the bed can be moved against the wall for our toddler?
Room to leave the sofa open as bed during trip?
Are there extra trash bags in the room? And if so, is there a place I can take the trash out to before the fourth housekeeping day?
Will housekeeping bring up extra towels if we call or not?
Could I use the free laundry even if I'm just renting points?
Correct in that there is a small fridge, toaster and a few plastic plates and utensils?
Is there dish detergent in the mini kitchen?
If I need more plates and/or utensils during the trip would housekeeping bring us extra?

Thanks again for any help with any of these questions!

Hair dryers? YES

Iron and ironing board? YES

Can I request housekeeping to bring us up extra pillows?
There are extra pillows for the sleeper sofa in the closet.

Anyone notice if the bed can be moved against the wall for our toddler? I am gonna say probably not a good idea as moving the heavy bed could cause damage to the carpet and/or scratch the walls.

Room to leave the sofa open as bed during trip? NO

Are there extra trash bags in the room? And if so, is there a place I can take the trash out to before the fourth housekeeping day?
YES, extra trash bags in bottom of each trash can. Room on the mail hall that tells you where to dispose of the trash.

Will housekeeping bring up extra towels if we call or not?
They are supposed to charge for extra sets of towels.

Could I use the free laundry even if I'm just renting points? YES, but take your own detergent and fabric softener.

Correct in that there is a small fridge, toaster and a few plastic plates and utensils? YES

Is there dish detergent in the mini kitchen? YES, small bottle

If I need more plates and/or utensils during the trip would housekeeping bring us extra.
Don't think so but I have never requested extras, always took my own.

Have a great stay.

Thanks for the help!
I have since read on another thread that there aren't hair dryers in the studios? Just the larger rooms? So this is incorrect?
Extra pillows - We will use the extra ones then for the sofa bed, but usually need a couple extra. Will they bring us some or do they charge a fee?
Since they charge for extra towels, can we wash them in the laundry without sitting right there? Do people leave their stuff going for a few hours?
How many towels will they provide?
Thanks again! Shan :)

We have stayed at the BWV the studio rooms have a micro wave, sink, very small ref, paper plates, paper silverware, glass and cups. The head board is against the wall the bed you can not move.Double size sofa bed. Trashs cans (3) or (4), dish soap and cloth, paper towels in the kitchen. Hair dryer, iron and board. these were great to have. We had 4 large towels, e wash cloths and hand towels. you can wash them. Call if you want or need extra pillows or blanets. Every fourth day you will clean towels and empty trash cans. Have a wonderfu time:bounce: :p

I stayed at BCV in September, but I did not use the laundry room. Was only there for 4 days. However, I am sure with a toddler that you will have more need than hubby and I did. I would bet you could load the washers/dryers and then head back to the room. All larger unites have washers and dryers, so there won't be that many people needing to use it.

I thought there was a hair dryer, in fact, now that I close my eyes and picture the room and think about it, I know there was, because it has a little night light attached to the bottom of the wall mounted unit. I had to unplug the whole thing so the light would not shine at night.

I have never asked for extra pillows, but I would imagine they would bring them. Don't quote me, though.

fridge is not huge, big enough for drinks, juice, some food and it has a little freezer unit. Water bottles fit when you lay them down. Microwave and toaster make fixing a light breakfast an easy chore. Sponge, dishtowel and paper towels provided. Coffeepot (think it was a full-size, not the 1-2 cup thing).

You will love the decor of the BCV rooms. Much nicer than a regular hotel room in my opinion.

There are very few washers and dryers in the laundry room. If you leave your clothing in the washer or dryer, you might find them lying on the table or somewhere else when you return if you plan to leave them while you go to the parks. It is rude not to remove them immediately. I'm trying to remember, either two or three washers and four or six dryers. If I was waiting to use the washer and dryer and the clothing owner didn't come back in about 10 or 15 minutes after the washer or dryer stopped, I'd remove the clothing and do my own laundry. Figure 30 minutes to wash and 45 minutes to dry.

You get one bath towel per bed space. Four sleeping accomodations = four bath towels.

When we stay in a studio and I need to do laundry, I get up early and head to the laundry room at about 5:30 or 6 and get it done at one time. When we stayed for 4 nights in a studio at BCV, I did laundry twice. Each time I had two loads. These are not the extra large washers and dryers like you have at home.

You have to figure that there are at least 30-40 studios there.

I don't think I would head to the parks after putting laundry in either, but I also don't think it necessary to stand by the washers and dryers as they are operating. I think heading back to the room for that period of time is a safe bet.

I know these are silly questions for sure, but......I have never stayed at DVC before, and we are thinking of a studio.

Do you get the Mickey shaped soap?
Can you get the Mickey wake up call?

Thanks for all the info about the various things the rooms have. I didn't ask the questions, but I appreciate the answers :)

Couple more questions then - Does the quiet pool at BCV and Stormalong Bay have towels to use there? Or do we have to bring our towels from the room?

Also, does the studio have a vacuum, too?

Thanks! I'm getting pretty excited............. Shan :)

Yes, both pools have towels available right there.
Yes, there is a vacumn in the studio.
Have a great time!:D

Mickey soap and shampoo there when you check-in, but because there is no daily maid service, unless you pay for it, it is not replaced daily, just at trash and tidy/towel day, so it does not go far.

I called for extra pillows for my studio at BCV and they were promptly delivered. Hint:dont ask the maid in the hall for the pillows, I did and I heard her complain to her co worker about it, I then called housekeeping and they were promptly delivered.

Laundry tip: To prevent any one else from making the same mistake I did: the BCV laundry room has the coin slots on the machines but they are there only for the sake of being pushed in to start the machine, the actual slots are plugged up , I found this out by trying to put quaters in them(annoyedly , thinking they were supposed to be free!!) and after going back to my studio for the change Grrr!

Have a wonderful trip all

sitchu2: I did exactly the same thing! Too funny, I wonder how many people do this. Did they have chairs in the laundry room yet, so you could sit and watch the TV? I let my daughter swim in the quiet pool while I bopped up and down to the 4th floor laundry. It's right next to the elevator, so this is not a big deal. Of course, she's 11 and an excellent swimmer. When the laundry was done, we went to SAB! Diana

No chairs in the Laundry room while I was there, It really would have been nice to have them there, but the time between loads is much better spent in the dunes cove hot tub Ahhhhh!

cant wait to go back /100 Days 17 Hrs 26 Mins 31 Secs

You should be able to call housekeeping and ask for bedrails. I know you can do this at the other Disney resorts, so I don't think a DVC resort would be any different! They actually brought us 2 when we stayed at AKL and asked for one.
