We (DD10, DS 8) just reserved a one bedroom villa at BCV for short stay in May for our first time.
Any suggestions as to which rooms/area/floor/views are the most ideal to at least try to request?

Everyone's "ideal" room is different. I remember one time, a DIS member came on the boards saying how wonderful a particular studio was, she loved the view. Well, coincidently, I got that same room on my next trip and thought at first that I was so lucky. It turned out to be one of my least favorite rooms, because it was close to the road and that really annoyed me. It DID have a great view of Epcot, but I couldn't get past that road noise. I love the woods views, seeing the sharp-shinned hawks sitting in the trees, listening to the sounds of the bands from UK and Canada, admiring the Eifel tower. But someone else may be disappointed, looking at "a bunch of trees". I'm especially happy with the rooms in the right-hand "jog" after you take a right off the elevators and go about 10 rooms down before you take a right-it's so quiet there, but far from the elevators. Just one caution-one time, I dared to make a request for a specific studio at BCV, following it with "or with similar view". At check in, they told me that nothing even with a similar view was available and I was given a HA room in a different area. So you might want to think twice about requesting a specific room.

I don't think any of the views at BCV are worth requesting. I only request to not be on the bottom floor (I prefer a balcony over a patio).

I like to request "close to the main elevator" to be closer to the Marketplace. I don't think I've ever had a bad room at BCV.
