Any advice???? I have a 1BR villa on points and paying cash for a studio for th mother in law. Other than having DVC note the ressie, any thoughts on trying to get connecting villas???

Make sure both the cash and points reservation cross reference the other's confirmation number and have a request noted on each that they be located near each other, connecting if possible. Politely repeat your request when you check in. If you can, check in early in the day and tell the front desk that you would be willing to wait for the rooms if that would help.

FWIW, getting them connecting is a long shot since a 2 bedroom lock off would have to be unoccupied (not needed for a 2 bedroom reservation) when you check in, and BCV is a smaller resort. I'm sure they'll try, though. Good luck!
