Just back from 7 nights in a 1 bdrm at BCV. This was DH's first trip and my second as a member. Our trip was awesome, but will comment mainly on the resort in this post. We did MNSSHP and F&W but probably won't do Disney again during this time. The crowds were a little much for me as I'm used to last week in January to the first two weeks in February.

We arrived late Friday the 24th and checked into the Dolphin to save points. Gotta love those Heavenly beds but it spoiled us for our move to the villa. Going to have to purchase one when the time comes.

Checked into the BCV early Saturday morning. Our room was preassigned and ready for check-in. It was by the road so I asked if they had any others available. They gave me a choice of 3 different rooms and I chose the only available pool view. Room wasn't ready until 2pm. Room 558, which turned out to be perfect with the elevator to the pool right around the corner. 558 has a balcony the full length of the one bedroom with sliding doors in the livingroom and bedroom. It is non-smoking so we only smoked on the balcony even though we were told we could smoke in the room. Everything was clean and working properly. I don't understand the complaints about air conditioning, water pressure, or hot water temps. We all had plenty of hot water (kept having to turn it down), plenty of water pressure and never had a problem with the air conditioning.

The girls (both adults) had a difficult time sleeping on the pull out in the living room. I called mousekeeping and they brought us an egg crate foam pad for the sleeper sofa. This was the only problem we found with the villa. I do think that they should have used a better grade of sleeper than they did. It was very uncomfortable for girls and was sagging in the center. Next time they join us we will get a two bedroom. The one bedroom is wonderful but with 4 adults I found I was disturbing them early in the morning as I'm an early riser and they are late sleepers. I kept reminding them if they wanted privacy they could look into resales. :teeth:

High speed internet access was installed in our room during the week on trash & towel day. I imagine all DVC will have high speed access fairly soon.

The hallway on the 5th floor was clean and not once did I find trash in the hallway outside anyone's door. The trash room was always neat and clean.

DH got quite the kick out of Al E. Gators' daily morning visits along with the turtles. It definitely added to his enjoyment of BCV.

Twice during the weekend I noticed manager types inspecting and writing down notes regarding the villas and the quiet pool area. During the week, maintenance was cleaning railings and doing a bit of touch up painting and minor maintenance here and there.

SAB was never overcrowded even though BWV was allowed use of the pool and I did not notice any chair saving. My sister and her family were visiting Sunday and we had no problem when asking if the children could use SAB.

Once again, I brought and bought way too much food and ended up bringing most of it home. We found that buying lunchmeat and rolls plus a few goodies should be more than enough.

I only saw one lime green ribbon at BCV. When I said hello and mentioned the DIS, I got quite the cold shoulder and no response. Needless to say, I won't do that again. :(

We drove because DH refuses to fly. After 21 hrs of driving down and 21 hrs of driving home he now says he will never drive again only fly! Yay!! Now we will be able to stay for 3 extra days in the future. I knew he'd give in sooner or later. :teeth:

Glad to answer any questions regarding the BCV.

Glad you had a great trip. You will really appreciate flying down in both time and relaxation. I've only noticed DIS lime green once and the folks were real friendly.

Thanx for the report, Candlelady. My wife also refuses to fly, and we drive from from CT as well. I hope that changes soon...

Glad you had a good trip...

It is non-smoking so we only smoked on the balcony even though we were told we could smoke in the room.

my question is...why are they allowing smoking in non-smoking rooms?

Deb

thanks for the report!
headed home for the first time in 33 days!

Thanks for the positive report. I'm sure that those of us who have heard the negatives regarding the BCV will appreciate all of the positives you have to say.

Gald you had a nice trip and that BCV was taking care of soem maintenance!

Thanks for your report. Sounds like all had a good time. We've done both MNSSHP and F&W and enjoyed both of them. Our next trip is planned for next Oct so we can take in both plus the Disney Golf Tournament. We actually take turns flying and driving. Drive when we're staying long (week) and fly when we only have a few days.

I fly when I go without him. Much easier and cheaper.

He complained just a tad on the way down. It was on the way back that he wouldn't stop complaining about how numb his butt was. Of course it didn't help in the least that I turned onto the wrong interstate and drove for almost 2 hrs before I realized my error. We were very into a book on disc and didn't notice at the time. Lol, I thought it was quite hilarious, he didn't.

The girls made it home in 2.5 hrs and are kidding him nonstop every chance they get. I might have to drug him and ply him with liquor, but at least he doesn't want to drive anymore. ::yes::

Thanks for the great trip report! Sounds like a great trip! I can't wait for our next trip.

Great review!! We had just stayed there in the Villas from the 16-21st and also had a great trip - LOVED that you mentioned Al E Gator!! We had also been watching him and keeping tabs on how many turtles were still there every night. ;)

Also had the same opinion of the couch / pullout -- glad we're getting a 2 BR in May when I bring my parents down!

Thanks for taking the time to review. ;) :teeth:

Thanks for the trip report! Glad you had a great time at BCV. We were there last week too only at BWV. We used SAB one day and I didn't think it was very crowded either. BW's guests must have been using SAB though as Luna Park Pool got really crowded on Thursday when the slide reopened.

Thank you for the informative report. We were at BCV the 18th thru the 25th of October and also enjoyed the gators and turtles.

This is in NO way directed at you....your family was very responsible in how you handled the smoking issue.

But I believe that any front desk person that tells a guest checking in that it is okay to smoke in a non-smoking unit should be fired on the spot.

We are heading back in June and are torn on the roadside vs. the pool side. We have stayed on the roadside and really did not find the slight noise a problem and we really enjoyed the nightly view of Illuminations.

Thanks again for the report.

Thanks for the nice report. I just returned from a stay also and found everything the same as you said.

BUT, I was wearing a green DIS water-holder-keeper-outer thingy at the pool and when someone said Hi to me I certainly answered - it was RWeThereYet's lifeguard son at the SAB. And I would have answered to you too so don't give up. Maybe the person was just distracted.

I do not know if there are several road sides or if now with the construction to The Land there is increased noise but I was just at BCV in mid to late Sept and we had room 448/450 and it was very noisy. Between the noise from the very heavy road traffic, the construction noise and the noise of the a/c condensers kicking on and off it was very noisy for the majority of the day/night. Most of this noise could still be heard very well even with the balcony door closed! However we did have a very up close view of Illumination fireworks. Personally I would never take a chance again with any room BCV has classified as an Epcot view room. This was without a doubt the noisest WDW room I have ever had in any resort.
Don't get me wrong, we love BCV and look forward to staying there again in the future, just definitly not again in this location.
