Just back from 7 nights in a 1 bdrm at BCV. This was DH's first trip and my second as a member. Our trip was awesome, but will comment mainly on the resort in this post. We did MNSSHP and F&W but probably won't do Disney again during this time. The crowds were a little much for me as I'm used to last week in January to the first two weeks in February.
We arrived late Friday the 24th and checked into the Dolphin to save points. Gotta love those Heavenly beds but it spoiled us for our move to the villa. Going to have to purchase one when the time comes.
Checked into the BCV early Saturday morning. Our room was preassigned and ready for check-in. It was by the road so I asked if they had any others available. They gave me a choice of 3 different rooms and I chose the only available pool view. Room wasn't ready until 2pm. Room 558, which turned out to be perfect with the elevator to the pool right around the corner. 558 has a balcony the full length of the one bedroom with sliding doors in the livingroom and bedroom. It is non-smoking so we only smoked on the balcony even though we were told we could smoke in the room. Everything was clean and working properly. I don't understand the complaints about air conditioning, water pressure, or hot water temps. We all had plenty of hot water (kept having to turn it down), plenty of water pressure and never had a problem with the air conditioning.
The girls (both adults) had a difficult time sleeping on the pull out in the living room. I called mousekeeping and they brought us an egg crate foam pad for the sleeper sofa. This was the only problem we found with the villa. I do think that they should have used a better grade of sleeper than they did. It was very uncomfortable for girls and was sagging in the center. Next time they join us we will get a two bedroom. The one bedroom is wonderful but with 4 adults I found I was disturbing them early in the morning as I'm an early riser and they are late sleepers. I kept reminding them if they wanted privacy they could look into resales.
High speed internet access was installed in our room during the week on trash & towel day. I imagine all DVC will have high speed access fairly soon.
The hallway on the 5th floor was clean and not once did I find trash in the hallway outside anyone's door. The trash room was always neat and clean.
DH got quite the kick out of Al E. Gators' daily morning visits along with the turtles. It definitely added to his enjoyment of BCV.
Twice during the weekend I noticed manager types inspecting and writing down notes regarding the villas and the quiet pool area. During the week, maintenance was cleaning railings and doing a bit of touch up painting and minor maintenance here and there.
SAB was never overcrowded even though BWV was allowed use of the pool and I did not notice any chair saving. My sister and her family were visiting Sunday and we had no problem when asking if the children could use SAB.
Once again, I brought and bought way too much food and ended up bringing most of it home. We found that buying lunchmeat and rolls plus a few goodies should be more than enough.
I only saw one lime green ribbon at BCV. When I said hello and mentioned the DIS, I got quite the cold shoulder and no response. Needless to say, I won't do that again.
We drove because DH refuses to fly. After 21 hrs of driving down and 21 hrs of driving home he now says he will never drive again only fly! Yay!! Now we will be able to stay for 3 extra days in the future. I knew he'd give in sooner or later.
Glad to answer any questions regarding the BCV.
