I already own BCV, but one of my friends is looking into DVC and BCV really appeals to her. She's kind of on the fence about SSR.

Well, we all know the mantra..."Buy where you want to stay."

But BCV is sold out to new members, correct? SO how long before we might see some resales?

Let's not get into SSR and the 50 years. She has the info, knows the benefits, etc. Purely give me your speculation on BCV resales in the near future.

Thanks!

There are already BCV packages out there, in small quantity. Tell them to offer alot bacuase disney's going to be on the hunt for them not that they are sold out of original inventory.

based on VWL - I would think within (if not sooner) a year - have her pick a broker - Shontell is very nice - and get a relationship with her - some of the resalers never appear on the sites - they get sold as soon as the brokers get them.

So I would find her a broker she trusts and who will look for it for her.

I have already recommended Shontell to my friend and I suspect that BCV resales don't make the webpages often. I checked the 3 sites I frequent and nary a BCV listing to be found.

My friend is going to need a larger contract - she needs a 2 BR every time. So I wasn't sure how often large contracts come up at BCV.

she could buy 2 - 150 points contract, too and it would work better if she had to resale - smaller contracts are in more people's budget than the larger ones.

People divorce, die or decide that DVC is not for them (yes there are such people and some even visit this site).

Thanks for reminding me, Pat. My friend hasn't looked much into resales and I am sure 2 - 150 point contracts are going to be much easier to find.

I know people go through different issues all the time, so I hope she is able to find a contract or two she can use.

2 of my friends bought BCV from DVC as recently as 3 weeks ago one got 220 pionts the other got 180 points

Were they new members or adding on? Of course, as luck would have it, my guide is off until Weds. so I can't even talk with him about it.

Anyone's guide know for sure if a new member can get on a waitlist for BCV?

Yes, I am a new member on the waitlist for BCV. So you can definitely do it.

I haven't seen much out there either. I do remember being quite surprised when VWL went on sale, and there were resales available almost by the time it opened for ressies!

I was offered a waitlist at BVC 2 weeks ago as a new member but it was $84 a point. The 12 years extra and the $5 a point cheaper was the reason we went with SSR.

So would the best advice I can give her be:

1) Call DVC and get assigned to a guide, and get waitlisted for BCV
AND
2) Contact a resaler (I am recommending Shontell) and let her know their needs in terms of contract sizes

So hopefully, between the 2, she can have her bases covered and have the best chance at getting a contract fast.

OurDogCisco - are you waitlisted for a particular use year? Or just a set number of points in any use year?

Thanks all!

Thanks all!

No, I am on the waitlist for 240 points for a April use year. I also had the option of picking 170 points for a December use year. I am not exactly sure how they know what is available. Oh, and you have to put down a $500 credit card deposit. It won't be charged unless the waitlist comes through.

Tina--

Thanks. Did you select the Use Year? I don't think use year is going to matter all that much for my friend...she's just will want the points she needs.

No, I didn't get to pick use year. The points were already attached to that particular use year.

Maybe you answer a question for me. I was thinking use year doesn't really matter since, you bank and borrow. But now you got me wondering if it does matter? What are you thoughts on use year? We cannot travel between January & April of each year because my dh is a CPA. So, the guide said that an April Use year would be perfect for us. I just didn't get it. I didn't really ask why. In my mind, I thought April would be worst for us because then, if our points were about to expire we'd have to travel prior to January or I would have to take a trip without dh.

Thanks,
Tina
