This was our first trip home after joining DVC last June. We checked in a little before noon on Sat Dec 7, and were thrilled to find that not only was a room ready for us, we had an Epcot view on the fifth floor, just as we requested! Of course we were very happy with the room because of all the space and amenities, but I won’t bore you with that.

We had room number 546, which is on the “spur” on the opposite side of the building from the quiet pool. It is a 1BR suite which is a lockoff with studio 544, and has a full-length balcony. The view of Spaceship Earth is spectacular, and I assure you that the “spur” has the best view of SSE anywhere in BCV. Rooms on the the main spine have a more direct of Illuminations fireworks; we had to stand next to the balcony railing and look right to see them.

Many people talk about noise from a “service road” which runs behind the resort. It’s not a service road, it’s Epcot Resorts Boulevard! It makes a complete loop around Crescent Lake. It may seem like a service road since much of the traffic is buses and support vehicles; resort guests have little need to drive along the stretch between the Beach Club and Boardwalk. Beyond that no doubt are roads that service the Canadian and British pavilions at Epcot, but you can’t see them and there’s generally very little noise from them compared to Epcot Resorts Boulevard. In any case the noise didn’t disturb us at all with the balcony door closed, and not that much when we were on the balcony.

I didn’t find the shower temperature to be a problem. Admittedly, it’s not hot enough to steam the wall tiles off, but I don’t miss that. And you do have to turn it nearly to the hot position, but that’s easy enough. It only took about 20 seconds to warm up even at 6 AM. I would guess the hot water is set at about 120 degrees F. It could be hotter, but it doesn’t rate a complaint from me.

Most critical item missing from kitchen: an ice cream scoop! We used the giant heavy-metal superspoon, which was serviceable but produced flat slices of ice cream rather than scoops.

thanks for the review, were going in a few weeks and asked for a 5th floor epcot view. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Happy holidays
