BCV Public Smoking Question?

We will be staying at BCV over Thanksgiving, and we are planning on having some of our family (our folks live in Tampa) over for Thanksgiving Dinner. We will be staying in a non-smoking 1-bedroom.

Unfortunately, my mother is still a smoker. We realize she can't smoke in the room or on the balcony, however, are there any locations on the BCV property where she will be able to go for a smoke??

I really hate to say this, because I hate when the person below me or next to me is smoking on a balcony, but I really don't think that smoking on the balcony of a non-smoking balcony is against the rules (I still can't beleive I just said that). Anyway, as far as outdoors goes, unfortunately, there is no designated smoking areas either. I would just recommend trying to be off the beaten path a bit. What I am saying is don't stand right out he doorway of the lobby so everyone that walks by has to walk through the smoke, oh and not by the little kids at the pool. I am not saying that your mother would do either one of these. These are just places that I observed people smoking on our last trip.

I agree, the OP stated it extreamly well.
Smoking is allowed on the balconies of non smoking units.
If your family member does smoke out there, just keep the door closed. I would follow the excellent advice Terry S. just gave you about other areas and smoking.

ashtrays by each of the entrances of the villas and the main lobby. I've sat out there and had mi smokes since they were there. Although this is where ppl have to walk to get in / out.

I have always assumed the ashtrays were located outside of entrances of buildings to assure that people put out their cigarettes before entering a building, not so that they could stand by them and smoke. Just my opinion.

I would have to agree. Smoking right outside the entrances where people (including kids) would be required to walk through the smoke to enter the building would not seem to be a considerate place to smoke. Just my opinion.

theres also rocking chairs and tables with ashtrays right outside the doors of the lobby heading to the pool / marina area. To me this means I can sit and enjoy a smoke. It's right by the doors though.

It is important that there is a nice area for smokers to use so they can avoid smoking in the rooms. Ashtrays on the tables in this area right outside th elobby are a pretty good indication this probably an appropriate place. There is an alternative exit just down the hall that non-smokers with strollers can use. Sounds like a good option.
