Which DVC resort would you recommend to stay Dec 30-Jan 4?

Are there any special New Year's Eve celebrations at either (or at Epcot or Magic Kingdom) which would influence our choice?

We have been to VWL at Christmas and love the decorations and know that they would still be up most of that time, but we can make 11 month ressies at either and were not sure of the New Year's activities offered at either.

Your input would be appreciated..thanks.

Well, I know that Epcot does the regular Illuminations, and then does a huge add-on of a bunch more fireworks. At least, they did this about 3 years ago, when it was televised. The rain that year had been threatening all day, and it let loose about 5 minutes after the conclusion of the fireworks. It rained so hard! All the wet clothes were hung out to dry. The men all seemed to enjoy the LARGE orange bra and matching thong hanging over the balcony on the second floor...:rotfl:

I'd say it would depend on whcih park you want to spend New Year's in. Pick VWL for the MK and BCV for EPCOT or MGM. All the parks have special fireworks. Both resorts are really decorated nicely for Christmas but have to admit the feel of the VWL at Christmas is second to none IMHO.

Never done it but I would think in an adult only situation or older kids only that SSR and DTD would be really fun.

Having done MK for NYE last year, the (amazing) piece of advice that I would give is that that is NOT the place to go for NYE if you are staying at a monorail resort (except probably Contemporary) or at WL or FW. The people that had to ride a monorail or boat were going to be there a long, long, long time after the park closed and they didn't have any way to add capacity to those transportation options. Although WL and FW had the alternative of bus service, it appeared that those resorts were receiving lower priority for additional buses due to the other transportation options as well. You could walk to the monorail resorts in a pinch (and quite easily to Contemporary), but you cannot walk to WL. MK is also a scary place at closing time on NYE due to the way that traffic moves in the park. I have been in a lot of crowds (and big ones) and that is only the second time in my life that I have been fearful in a crowd due to how congested and packed it was. That said, the fireworks were AWESOME!! Epcot is a much easier and equally fun park to be at on NYE, so I think that would be a great option. Epcot handles crowds very, very well. BCV or BWV would be an EXCELLENT choice for any Epcot night.

We like variety in our WDW vacations, so I'd probably go with BCV just because you haven't stayed there at that time of year yet....at least that's what I'm assuming you're saying.

If you've stayed at both during the holiday season, then I'd go with VWL just because it's hard to beat at that time of the year. Per my signature, I'm just a little biased though! ;)

Thanks to all for input. Right now, if all of my family can go, we will stay in a 1BR at VWL. If just three end up going, we may stay at BCV in studio. I have all of my BWV pts already tied up with a reservation for some of us in October; otherwise, that would be ideal.

This is not the most convenient thing to do, but it is actually the quickest way to get back and forth from MK to WL after park closing on busy days. We walk to CR, and take the boat to WL. You can be back at the resort with a long walk, but no crowds and little wait.

How do you get a bus from CR to WL???
