Which is better, in your opinion? BWV has larger rooms, but I hear that BCV is closer to Epcot and has Stormalong Bay. I've also heard that BCV is run down. Also, for a 1-bedroom, a standard view room rate is much cheaper than BCV.

Rooms sizes are functionally the same. Maybe 2 or three square feet difference.

If you don't own at BWV, don't count on getting a standard view or a Boardwalk View. You could, but if you are planning, you may want to plan to grab the SV if available, take BCV if its not - provided it is available.

The walking distance difference is maybe 100 yards - I wouldn't make a decision based on that either.

There have been reports of all resorts being "run down" at one time or another. I wouldn't put a lot of credence to them unless you are very picky. We don't find the resorts to be kept up to Disney Deluxe standards, but they aren't run down.

Stormalong Bay is really cool - I don't like it because I find it difficult to watch kids there. In a few years when they don't need to be watched......

As crisi indicated, the room sizes and layouts at BWV and BCV are virtually identical.

I also agree with the comments about "run down". If you've been staying at POR, CBR and Pop Century I don't think you'll find anything "run down" at all about BCV!

BWV is a few years older than BCV so by all rights it has had more wear and tear. I've never stayed at BCV but I think most WDW travellers would be hard pressed to describe it as run down.

As crisi said, depending on the time of year, a standard view room at BWV can be a tough reservation to get. No harm in trying for it, but don't be disappointed it if is unavailable.

They are both great resorts. A different look and feel to each, which fits different people differently. You can't go wrong either way.

I'd recommend BCV because they seem to me to have better fast food options (including my favorite, gelato). I love the BC Marketplace and B&C. I also prefer that I can go out to the beach and squish my toes in the sand. Last August, I stayed at BWV because I couldn't get a room at BCV, and yet I found myself going over to BCV to eat many times. I also find it much more convenient to Epcot (although BWV is more centrally located if you're interested in both Epcot and MGM). And although I haven't been to BCV in about 7 months, it certainly didn't seem "run-down" when I was there last time.

I have never found any of the DVC properties to be run down, so I am not sure where someone gets that from!

I would stay at BCV for Stormalong Bay. It is a poll complex unequalled anywhere else in WDW.

BCV views are not that great. We actually like a pool view. If view is extremely important to you, then perhaps BWV would be your better bet, since the preferred views there are great.

The largest room size difference is at OKW for the 1 & 2bdrm villas. Otherwise I believe all the others are about the same. One way to make the decision is to plan a trip and call to see what's available at that time. I was at BCV in February and loved it! BWV is gorgeous too and as others have mentioned on other posts-each resort has it's own unique features and DVC fans :thumbsup2

BWV has larger rooms: Just a few square feet, not really significant

BCV is closer to Epcot Not by much. Not enough to really matter.

I've also heard that BCV is run down. There have been reports of damage in the rooms - just like there is damage at other resorts - but to say it's "run down" is like saying it's a slum, and it's not.

Also, for a 1-bedroom, a standard view room rate is much cheaper than BCV As others have said, it's hard to get the SVs unless you own at BWV for several times of the year.

Having said that, they are both lovely resorts, have great pools and great amenities. You can't go wrong with either one.

I guess my signature gives away my preference.
I seem to choose BWV even if BCV is available. I like the "action" at night. If some of the family is tired and you are not, you can take the elevator to see a juggler, get your hair braided, peruse the great gift shop, grab something at the bakery, ride a bike . . . :yay:

We have points at both resorts, but we actually prefer Boardwalk. It may be because that was our first experience with DVC and it holds a special place in our hearts. We love both places and don't think you could go wrong with either one.

We love them both and split our last 2 stays between the two and will on our next trip as well!!

I have stayed at both and echo what marathonmommy has to say. I also enjoy the action that BWV has at night if you want to make a trip down to the boarwalk after the kids or others are resting for the night. Having stayed at both and SSR, the rooms do take some wear and tear in comparison to the new rooms at SSR, but I would not call them run down at all.
