Planning a trip for Mar or Apr of next year. Looking at a studio so I can use pts towards BLT TP view during thanksgiving later in 2013.

While I understand I may not get either at 7 months, which studio is preferred over BWV/BCV. If I did BWV would prefer the BW view.

Thanks

opinions vary.

BWV is a larger resort, so that can help at the 7 month window. BWV-preferred view-nonboardwalk view are the most commonly available.

as with BLT, BWV owners tend to book up the cheaper standard view rooms and the best view (boardwalk view) rooms. but until you get to the 7 month window, it's hard to know what, if anything, will still be available.

BCV is much smaller and is the only DVC with access to stormalong bay, their sandy bottomed themed pool. DVCers staying at BCV on pts can pool hop to BWV but not vice-versa.

i believe BWV has had the more recent resort-wide refurbishment. also, BWV tends to be criticized for "long hallways."

I stayed at BWV in a boardwalk view and enjoyed it. However, I did request a high floor due to people's comments that the noise from the boardwalk at night can be loud. There were only one or two nights when noise was an issue and someone was screaming on the boardwalk at midnight. Yes the walk from the elevators can be a little long, but it is really only about a minute or two walk.

I've also stayed in a standard view studio at BWV. I think I prefer the boardwalk view, but if you need to conserve points you can't go wrong with either view.

None of the BCV views are great. If that's what you need, then book BWV and cross your fingers. We stay at BCV because we like the barefoot ambiance and Stormalong Bay.

I've been in March, and sometimes it's not really swimming, stay at the pool weather. I book BCV (I do have points there) mostly when I know it's swimming weather!

As far as resorts, I like them both. BWV has a good community hall that my DGC enjoy.

Thanks. That was my concern. The big draw for me at BCV was the pool. Would be going 3/16-3/24 so I agree, pool is 50/50. View is important to us and I know the knock on BCV with no views. Wasn't sure if there was some other big advantage to BCV beside the pool.

Liked the view and activity at BWV although the pool scares the bejesus out of DW :rotfl2:

Looked online and both are available.

One thing I prefer at BCV is that there's a coffee table. I love to put my feet up with a cup of coffee in the am. However, BCV studios only have one sink. Even AKV value studios have two sinks! I don't remember at BWV-one or two.

We own at BCV and book there 11 months out with a request for a quiet pool view. At 7 months, we check to see if a boardwalk view is available at BWV. If it is available, we switch, if not, we happily stay with our original reservation.

I like both resorts but really enjoy a boardwalk view.

How are you seeing availability if you haven't hit the 7 month mark yet?

I am, as I write this, sitting on a balcony overlooking the Boardwalk and watching people strolling along and listening to the sounds of the Friendship boats. Doesn't get much better than this.

ahhhhh:cloud9:
that view is probably the main reason we keep going back to WDW! we can get rides, pools, etc elsewhere.....name one other place we can wake up to the sun glittering on crescant lake and spaceship earth, the eiffel tower peeking over the top of buildings, yummy bakery scents, the gentle tooting of friendships:goodvibes

if you have little ones, they would most likely appreciate the activity and pool at the BCVs more. older kids and adults frequently prefer the nighttime "street performers", carney games, community hall, etc of the BW - lots of activities at your fingertips. we find the BWV interiors more quiet and elegant, BCV more small child oriented and active.

btw, you do have a decent chance at BW view at exactly 7 months, as long as there are no holidays around that time. we usually use our BCV points to get BWV BW view for our late april/early may trips (and save our BWV points for our F&WF vacations, where one NEEDS the 11 months).
hth:)

The only reason I would pick BCV over BWV is the pool at Beachclub. Love The Boardwalk!!!

BWV = less points Sun- Thurs... Thats why we go BWV most of the time.

Very important and sometimes overlooked, BWV points are pretty low!

I think much of this argument/comparison boils down to family needs. At this point, I have young adult children so SAB is not that important to us, whereas they enjoy sitting out on the balcony and looking out onto the Boardwalk ( at BWV). When thy were younger, SAB was more of an interest to them so BCV fit the bill. For us, BCV stays turned into BWV stays. Maybe that will change back again when my children have their own little ones.

That's the truth!
