Please help!!!!

I think I have my DH convinced that we need to add on more points, somewhere in the range of 70 - 100 but I cannot decide which resort.

We already own at BWV but have stayed mainly at BCV for our August trips. We have had great luck switching ressies at 7 months. So BCV feels more like my home than BWV. Don't get me wrong, I love BWV too and would never be disappointed staying there, but the kiddos love SAB and my DH & I love the gelato>:) If we buy BCV it would likely be a resale contract and they are hard to come by and get snatched up quick. We have time though. Our 09 vacation is booked so we wouldn't need points until 2010.

On the other hand, since we already own an EPCOT resort, should we try and take advantage of an AKV add-on, 2 contracts at 50 points each for the low price of $93. I haven't called my guide yet as we are so undecided. Has anyone found out whether you can get the $93 per point and the 3 day cruise? We have stayed at AKV twice at Jambo and love it as well. It seems like this resort would be easier to do a non-park vacation because it is somewhat removed from all of the hubbub and very relaxing.

I am thinking long term here and I know that we will eventually sell off some of our contracts as the kids get older. We started out with a 100 point BWV resale and have done two add-ons since at BWV and then VWL (for DH).

What do you all think? I am sure some of you are considering add-ons with the new incentives. It does not seem that AKV is holding it's price as well as I thought it would, but then to compete with DVC incentives, resale prices have to drop to make them more attractive and worth the resale route. BCV always seems to be in demand and they sell very quickly and for a pretty good price compared to the rest. I do not forsee making a profit upon my eventual sale - all of the wonderful memories our family makes is profit enough for me, but I am concerned that when it is time to sell a portion of my contracts, that we will not have a hard time unloading them.

Any advice is appreciated.

I would go BLT over AKV, I think AKV will be easy to get at 7 months unless you want a very specific item over there. I also think BLT will hold the resale better than AKV if you do decide to "sell off" plus the MF at AKV would have me worried some........who knows if the animals will force the MF up but if seems like a reasonable possibility.

With BWV and BLT you would have both "park" DVC locations covered.......just my 2 cents popcorn::

Buy a resort very different than what you own, and you'll likely appreciate it more. Having AKV (or BLT) plus your BWV is a nice variety in terms of locations and theming.

One additional thought: Imagine selling in 20 years (not today). If you choose BCV, you'd have 13 years left on the contact. If you choose AKV, you'd have 28 years left. As a buyer, I'd be far more interested in 28 years than 13.

Your heart seems to be set on AKV and the incentives on it are great. Go with your instinct.

If you are concerned about selling in the future, I agree with a PP that the additional years that AKV will have will probably get you a better price.

Hmmmm. I really hadn't been thinking too much about BLT. The resort hadn't held much interest for me, although that may change if we give it a try. We have some points at VWL which is good for a few nights in a studio every year, or more with banking and borrowing. VWL is DH's favorite resort.

My concern is with only 100 points at BLT, that will not get us too far unless we bank and borrow. We are looking at doing 1 bedrooms for the most part and the rooms take more points than other resorts. Maybe I better take a better look at the point charts and try to figure some things out.

At AKV, how hard is it to book concierge at 11 months? I know that there is a very small number of rooms available for that booking category but if any AKV owners could give me their experiences, that would be helpful.

OK, so now I think I am narrowing it down to AKV or BLT.

I have two upcomming stays at AKL concierge one I called at exactly 11 months and got exactly what I wanted the other I called two days past the 11 month window, I wanted a 1 bedroom and got it but MS did say they didn't have any studios for my dates. I have read a few reports of people not getting concierge but that was for peak times. I am traveling in August and October.

For concierge, you really have to call right at 11 months. For Value rooms that's also true to a similar extent, but less so.

With the new incentives, I'd say your plan for two 50-point add-ons at AKV is the way to go. My understanding is that you can get both the discount and the cruise.

Thanks for all the responses. You all have given us lots to think about.

Just re-visited the points charts again and we are leaning towards AKV. I realize that the dues are higher at AKV but with a 100 point add-on, those points go a lot further for a 1 bedroom than at BLT. We stayed concierge level on our 1st trip to the World with the kids and really loved it. Once the kids are out of school we will have more flexibility for adult vacations and we think BWV and AKV would be more to our tastes.

Has anyone confirmed that you can get AKV at $93 per point with the 3 day cruise? This does seem like a pretty good deal, right?

Thanks again, DISers.

At Kidani right now. It is beautiful. It is the most unique resort experience on property. And the OP is right,it is relaxing. I would say to add on here. You already like it, it is very different than BWV, and you will get more bang for your points here over BLT.

In terms of resale, no one can predict that. Just as no one can predict dues. Add on where you want to stay.
