Has anyone heard of DVC offering to BCV owners the opportunity to purchase contract extensions like those that were done for OKW?

I haven't seen/heard anything on it. If I remember correctly, the offer made to the OKW owners didn't go over very well, but that was just from reading responses posted here. I hope they do offer an extension, but won't hold my breath.

That being said I'm not going to worry about it much. By the time my contract expires, I'll be almost 80, and my kids will be over 50. Grand kids? Please don't rush it, my kids aren't even married yet! :scared1:

BC and BW would certainly have to go over much better than OKW, if they can get past the issues with the resort/DVC connections that OKW and SSR don't have.

If they offered an extension at BWV, DH would buy points there.

We met with out guide two weeks ago. We were honest and said we prefer BCV to BLT. He said we can buy BCV through him (he checked and of course he had the amount and use year I wanted). Said only incentive he can give me is no closing costs and a discount on the extension costs when it comes. Now he did not say it was definite but he did tell us on two separate occasions that anyone who buys BCV through Disney will get a discount on the extension which he expects to happen. If you buy Resale you are out of luck, according to him!

Hope this helps.

That sounds like something you should ask to see in writing in your closing documents. I think maybe you were getting a little bit of a "creative sales pitch."

That would have to be a pretty large discount to make up for the dif in DVC direct vs the resale market.

I'd be willing to bet you a nickle that he will not put in writing that BCV will be extended.

Depends if you are doing an add on and how much. I think we are going to add BCV a little at a time in 25-50pt increments. I wish I could find that resale but when I do it doesn't really beat going thru Disney.

I'm sure the discount they would offer is what they offered OKW owners $15 pt vs like 20-25 it would cost now.:confused3

OKW resale buyers got the same discount. IMO your guide is just telling you plausible untruths...

Yes true, I was thinking of after the deal was offered, actually what I'm trying to write doesn't make sense!!!!!!!! DVC treats all owners the same right now, places like Wyndham treat resale and developer buyer differently and treat the pts different. Of course the difference between retail and resales is HUGE........like $30k vs ahhhhhhh almost FREE.

IMHO, most of the issues with the OKW extension surrounded the manner in which DVC chose to do it. They arbitrarily extended all of the contracts for 15 more years and then required that owners NOT wanting the extension opt-out of it. I believe they chose that method in order to appeal to the largest audience possible. If they had instead made the extension a separate contract, there would have been many owners DVC was prohibited from contacting due to local timeshare sales laws.

Jim Hill publicly stated that they wouldn't follow the same path as OKW if others are extended, but no commitment on others extending.

If they are going to do it, I think it would have to be in the next 10 years or so. If not then, better to just let the contracts run out in 2042 and sell brand new 50-year periods.

It made some sense to move OKW contracts off of the 2042 ending date since it was shared by 6 resorts. Now come '42 they have only BWV, BCV and VWL to re-sell (plus VB and HHI), which isn't as daunting a task.

That was our plan, too. DH "gave" me the first 25 pts for Christmas:love:....and over 3 months later, we still didn't have them. And waiting 3 months for BCV points is nothing from what I can see. So now we're waiting for ROFR on a 100 point contract from TSS. Hopefully your use year will be better than ours was (we have June) for getting points through Disney! Good Luck!pixiedust:

Ouch ours is June too!!!!!!!!! I really really like BCV and would like to add a little here a little there when we have it. I can also sock some away for resale but the smaller contracts especially BCV are HARD to come by. The good news for us is really don't mind any of the resorts (have not stayed at AKV and that would be the only one I have no interest in) so my SSR would be fine if we can't get in at BCV or BWV. Who knows we are staying at BLT in Oct and maybe that will just blow me away:confused3

Good luck on your ROFR:wizard:

I have bought pretty heavily into BLT becuase of the availability of Grand Villas, location & the contract end date.:thumbsup2

I was planning to eventually sell my BCV points but would reconsider if they did a contract extension!

I can always divy then up to my kids in my will. :dance3::grouphug:

I would be almost 100 to see the BLT points expire!:scared1:

There's really no point for us to extend. We'll be 96 when our BWV contracts expires and 111 when our BLT one does. Ha, ha!

If you added on say 200 points to an original 200 point contract, is it two contracts for your heirs or do all 400 points have to go to the same person?

It is 2 contracts you should have 2 sets of deeds!;)

Oh, thanks. We probably do have two sets of deeds. Actually, we bought from Disney, then an add-on from Disney, then resale and finally BLT from Disney, so I guess we have four deeds. That's DH's area of expertise, mine is just using all the points and planning all the trips. I know the contract #'s are on the order of something like 999999999.1 and 999999999.2 but whenever I look at the BWV June use year on the member's site, they seem to be clumped together as # 999999999, 400 points. The August use year and BLT are listed separately. It's good to know we have four options.
