Just called for some questions and found out that us NY'ers can't buy in yet, again! Unless, of course you are in FL when you purchase. Always a loophole.

Yes When I was down in January I was asking about BCV and was told that NY is one of the states it takes the longest for them to get registered to sell time share (oops Vacation club ;) ) in.

She said it took several months (don't remember how many exactly) for them to be able to sell other resorts AFTER they could sell in other states.

But I may end up atteneding a trade show at the swan in May, so I may be able to add on while there, if I can talk the other half into it :)

You'll really enjoy WDW in February. Have a nice trip. :D

You can always purchase at HHI too. That could be a day trip. :D

Well, that just saved me from spending money I do not really have. Guess I'll have to wait till April. Wasn't there a 6 month delay in VWL in NY too?

I know there was a delay with VWL, not sure how long!

NY needs to get ready to cut down some more trees for the stack of paperwork they make the DVC give us.

They are very busy, I am still waiting for a call back. My question is can a friend of mine from NY who will be visiting WDW next week bring papers up for me? Or can DVC mail them to a friend/family in NJ and they can give them to me in NY. Perhaps someone here has that answer. Thanks

Anna,
Please keep us posted on this when you hear back !! My daughter lives in NC and I could have stuff mailed to her IF NC is also approved. We already own at BWV but want to purchase 200+ points at BCV. Don't think I can possibly wait 6 months for NY to be approved. :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc

Thanks

I don't have the answer, Anna. I spoke to a guide too today (we haven't decided to buy in, we're just chewing over options)-- she said they are trying very hard to get NY to approve earlier than they did with VWL-- I think that took 6-8 months! I said what concerned me were the incentives and the pending point increase-- if BCV aren't available in NY until after June, then are NYers SOL and stuck with no incentives and an 80 pp price? Um, she said, she couldn't comment on that but didn't think with VWL NYers were offered any incentives late.

Visiting Florida now to buy is a fun idea, but the expense of the trip kind of blows the point of buying now-- trying to save money by going for the $70 pp price.

There may a an "unadverised" special for NY'rs. We did our original purchase at VWL in December 2000 when we were in Florida. We wanted to do an add on in May to beat the last price increase, but could not. VWL got approved in NY after the price went up, but our guide knew we wanted in. We did the add on shortly after the price increase but, got the pre increase price.

Good to know, although I suppose we'd better not count on this kindness!

Back in November of 1991, I saw an ad about the DVC. When I called, they asked where I was from and it was as if I had the plague. They could tell me absolutely nothing.

Lucky for us, we had a December trip planned and we bought into OKW.

I can't believe that this happens each and every time with NY. You'd think that they'd have it figured out by now.

(Sorry for my fellow NYer's who are feeling frustrated. I hope that the approvals come through soon so you can get BCV.)

I will keep you posted. My guide won't return til 2/13 - her back-up Karen has not returned my call in two days. My friend is not leaving til 2/15 am. She is willing to get paper of course, which is nice of her. I also have the other option if it can be done and have them mailed to NJ. We waited so long and now I hear it may be 6 months or so. I don't think so. If anyone else speaks to their guide, please ask for us NYers. ;) thanks

Hi Anna, we are also in S.I. going down next week. We plam on buying while we are there. I've heard of guides barely talking to NYers about BCV.
If it is possible to bring back paper work for someone, I'd be willing for my fellow 5 borough new yorkers! Let me know if you hear anything.

I so wanna buy an Add-On at BCV...

We NY'ers always end up getting screwed... Unreal...

Need as much info as we can get regarding this incentive deal and the pricing to see what we can do.

Hi Fellow NY'ers,
We spoke to our guide yesterday concering buying BCV. We will be at Disney in a week and want to look around and possibly buy BCV. A good friend of ours wants to buy too, we asked if we could bring the paperwork home for him to sign, the answer was "no." Sorry all, I know this is disappointing......:(

DH also talked to our guide (Larissa) last night. (I had sent an email to member services last week asking if she could contact us since we were having trouble getting through). She told him all about the point cost, incentives, opening time, booking time, finances etc. Every time he wrote something down, I would say "I know that" :) but ask about NY! Well, when he was finally able too, he asked the dreaded question. She was politely apologetic and said No, "NY was not approved as of yet". He asked if we could request the papers could be sent to us at our daughter's address in NC. She told him, that while NC was approved, she didn't think that their legal dept. would allow that anymore. She indicated that since Sept. the "rules" have gotten a little tighter about what they were allowed to do :(
He then asked if we could purchase at Hilton Head (as we will be in Myrtle Beach in April) and she said "No. There is no longer a sales office located there as it's almost sold out". The only way for NY'ers to purchase right NOW is in WDW. She did tell him that they were trying to speed things along with the approval for NY and hoped to have us approved by the end of March.
So that's it in a nutshell :( What he forgot to ask her was if we did come to WDW to purchase, would we both need to be there, or could just I go and get/sign the papers? Anyone?? It's a lousy job, but if I must go, I will :D Oh, how I'd love a trip south right about now!!

Wow, that's not good for us when we have been waiting patiently. My friend/s were willing to pick up or have papers delivered. Karen called back last night and guess what, I missed her call, dropping off son at practice. Let's see what happens today, but we just got some answers here.

Well, if that's true that isn't too bad-- at least the incentives will still be good. That's my main concern-- I'd love to pay $70 a point. $80 per point is really too high.

(Not that I have actually decided to buy-- haven't even decided my game plan for talking dh into it. Just have a sporting interest :D )
