DH and I LOVE our home resort BCV but we just booked AKV for 3 nights after our DCL cruise in March! We will be staying in a value studio in Jambo House partly because SAB is going to be rehabbed at that time and partly to save some points. Would love to hear opinions of those who have stayed in a value studio at AKV. Also, for those who love all of the action around the BC/YC/BW area, did the AKV seem remote?

Thanks!

We own at BCV and AKV and have stayed in value studios and a value 1 bedroom. We do spend more time at the resort when we're staying at AKV because we like to do some of the scheduled activities around AKV and I spend time watching the animals from the common areas, and I like to chat with the CMs from Africa.

We have not had any bus issues during our AKV stay, but I do understand about "remoteness" since we too like to walk to Epcot from BCV. I really do plan for a different type of visit for our AKV stays. I have an upcoming trip with a DGF and we're actually doing both, 3 nights AKV and 2 nights BCV to address that issue! That's only because my DGF has never stayed at either, if it were entirely up to me, this would be an entire AKV stay.

Have a great time! We're doing DCL with family in May, We have BCV before the cruise and AKV afterwards. You see, we really like both resorts very much! I totally agree with staying in a value villa to save points. We often do that!

when you walk into a value studio - it looks tight. It is - disney put almost everything into it that was in the regular studio.

that say loved it. got a pool view.

there is also savannah and parking lot views.

if you get even a savannah view would go look outside for the animals.

really expected this place to be dull at night. It is not - it has a lot going on at night. storytelling, games, artists - there is a little something for everyone - it is going on in the lobby - so try it one night.

go outside and see the animals with their night vision bin

Thanks! We were really planning on just relaxing and hanging out by the pool after being on the go on the cruise. I thought this would be a good time to give AKV a try as we are thinking about buying more points. :yay: Just can't decide if we want to buy more BCV or VWL or AKV. I'm glad to hear that AKV has some nighttime activities and we love Boma. Of course, we really won't need to eat at a buffet after being on a cruise.

I wish Kidani would be open so we could try the new pool as it sounds awesome! :)

Bobbi-When is your cruise? We will back at BCV from May 27-June 3.

Donna

We are the week before you at BCV, and our cruise is over Memorial Day weekend.

About the AKV pool, it's opened all night, and the lights that they use make night swimming pretty and exotic IMO...I really enjoyed the aloneness of a late night swim, it's not like that every night, very few people, but sometimes it is.

We too love BCV and are BCV owners. One of the main reasons is the location. We are also owners of AKV. We have stayed there at a one bedroom standard and standard studio. The rooms are sufficient and goes perfectly with the theme. Although it does seem a little dark, I think that's just the decor and it goes well. I do feel like it's a little remote. I found it took a little longer to get to some of the parks. And I am a little disappointed that we had to take a bus to AK when it would be so much easier and nicer to have a path to walk through. One of the main things about BCV is that we can walk to and from Epcot and HS. I love the walk and it's nice to be away from the crowds.

AKV is beautiful. Boma and Mara are great places for food. I do miss those Zebra domes. And the pool is sufficient (although, I wouldn't consider it anything close to SAB). When we've been there, it has always been quiet and not crowded so that was nice.

In the past, we have liked walking through the path to see some animals, but because of the construction, they have closed most of this for now, so we were not able to enjoy it during our last vacation (March). However, I'm looking forward to the completion of Kidani and hoping everything will fall into place the next time we visit.

I think both resorts offer different experiences. And, I guess, it depends on what your looking for. If location, the BCV, imo, is far better.
