We are staying at BCV this Spring(2 bedroom). We have asked to be close to elevator and lobby ( I know its only a request) because one member has medical needs (we frequently stay at Disney)-at least once a year- and they have always been more than accomodating. This is our first time at BCV and we were wondering if you get a room near the lobby and elevator- what would the view be? While accomodations are a first priority We don't want to be looking at a parking lot for that expense. Would a pool view be near the lobby or BC resort/elevator? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Is the BCV large and spread out?
We had a 2BR lockoff that was essentially next to the elevator and a woods view. It was very convenient although there still will be quite a walk from the BC lobby and for any transportation. As was mentioned you could end up with any of the views.
Here are a couple of pics:
I'm sorry but I never understand the need to be close to an elevator because of any special needs.
I personally can understand the request and will explain from my POV. The points you mentioned about walking
are the main reasons for the request. Of course some depends on the medical needs which of course no one needs to explain, but here's a couple of examples. When we were at BC my DH was using a
scooter b/c he had a knee operation just a couple of weeks before. As far as mobility it wasn't a problem but it can be a bit confining having to go further down the halls, and troublesome if you meet others - especially those with luggage or a bellman or have maid carts to go by. Not that DH can't steer well, but it can be tight or something needs to get moved to get by. So, not a big deal on that one, just nice to be closer to the elevators.
When my mother goes along she needs a wheelchair. As a pusher it's nice to have anything taken off the distance because there is going to be so much more walking in order to get to transportation, restaurants etc. Also, in most instances at Disney you are pushing a wheelchair over hard surfaces where it rolls easily. Once you get into the hotel hallways it's carpet and there's much more resistance and it's harder to push. It then is nice to not have to have that added workout on top of everything else.
My sister has used a wheelchair for almost 40 years now. Again - as a pusher it's nice to cut off whatever distance you can.
There are rooms near the elevator and rooms way down the hall. All are available so one should request what they feel will work best for them, whatever the reason.
