We have a 1 week reservation at Kidani Village this summer and we don’t want to do a split stay. I was able to book 1 day at Beach Club in the middle of our week (still keeping our Kidani reservation in tact). We’ve never been to BCV and would like to roam around and play in the pool that everyone talks about there. We will spend the night but don’t plan to move out of our Kidani room. Is there going to be issues with us having 2 rooms on the same night at different resorts, with the same people listed on the reservations? Will the magic bands/cell phone only work at one resort to open doors?

We had an issue with not staying over (not at Disney) once. Per like fire code or something. I would definitely delve further into that reason (beyond the reason you mentioned which someone else will have to answer). It would stink if something happened that they missed and caught up to you later.

Never tried myself but just a thought on the magic bands- if you have any bands from previous trips I wonder if you could bring another with you and link it just to your BCV reservation and use that while there and keep the other in a pocket/purse/bag and then switch back when back at Kidani.

MBs aren’t linked to specific reservations, they’re linked to your MDE and are like a key to the information in MDE. Reservations are linked to MDE and can be accessed by any MB in your account to open a resort door.

I don’t think that will work - you can only be checked in to one resort at a time, at least in so far as using MBs and cell phones to open doors is concerned. Maybe you can get a key card when you check in to BC.

However, are these both DVC reservations made with your points? If so, be sure to have different primary guests on each one, and list yourself as a guest with a different variation of your name e.g. use an initial or nickname. Otherwise you run the risk that DVC will cancel one of your reservations.

I think @Sandisw has some knowledge that might be helpful - I hope so!

Thank you all for the responses. Yes these are both reservations using my points. I will go in now to change the primary guest.

I was told years ago that 2 rooms with same names can be an issue. We've booked with middle names for 2nd room. Still our legal names, but doesn't mess up any bookings.

Ahh thank you for pointing that out and correcting me. I should have figured that something that sounds so simple in my head wouldn't work when it comes to Disney!

You can not be checked in to both at the same time. At least one guest has to remain checked in at Kidani

If everyone is going, it’s going to create a problem. That happened a few years ago when my DS and DDIL went to VGF for a few nights while the rest of us stayed at BRV. They had to check them out and back in When they returned.

And don’t forget - SAB is limited to only those guests on the BCV reservation - so you can’t - for instance - just have 1 or 2 of you on the resort - all who want to try the pool need to be on the reservation and they use MB or key card to give you access

Just modify the name of all your guests. Like instead of Mary Lou Smith, use Mary Smith. Instead of David Smith, use Dave Smith. Your magic bands that you use at AKV won't work to open the door and you'll have to use the key card they give you for BCV.

Wanted to be sure you realize I'm not laughing AT you - I'm laughing WITH you!

Yup this is the trick. Use a separate MDE with these slightly different names(but still legal!). Check and in and get cards and dont use your MBs thats are still inked to the your Kidani room,.

So, I actually did a version of this last Nov. My sister & my boys were on 2 ressies (hers & mine)- BCV & RIV. I was afraid it might cause problems & warned her about it. Weird thing is that her bands worked on both doors with no issues- we never even talked to the front desk about it.

Our boys, however, had a crazy experience: my 14-yo & her 12-yo had their own magicbands (we triple-checked!), but they kept reading as the other boy ... so her boy could unlock our door, my boy could unlock her door, and it even swapped their names at the parks!! It was the weirdest thing ever! We tried talking to the BCV front desk and to a cast member at EP, and everyone was baffled. It really didn’t matter for our trip, but it made me think twice about doubling up on ressies in the future.

You also run the risk of having double charges when you use your MB’s. Some of my sister’s charges did end up in my RIV portfolio... thankfully none had been duplicated, but it required more work.

I’m thinking in your situation, the easiest thing would be to not add that res to your MDE. That way, your MB’s are in no way linked to that room. All charges continue to go to Kidani, and all MB’s work without issue at Kidani. Just go to the front desk and get keycards for the day/night @ BCV. You’ll still be able to get into SAB without issue. No need to create mock MDE’s, but do use a different lead guest name for sure. IMO, it’s better to keep it simple 😉

We did something similar - we used 1 ‘real’ name as the main on the reservation and the rest of us I added to MyFriends and Family and the reservation on MDE with our first name and last name as Beach and ordered gray magic bands but did not tie any tickets to it...everything worked out fine- then, after the trip, I went in and removed the Beach family from MDE.
