Just back from BCV, we had a room issue, here is what they did. Arrived Weds Oct 1 at around 8:30PM. Checked in, the brought us to our 1 Bedroom room #120. Walked in, was overcome by cigarette smoke, not he light smell of smoke, but that deep seated smell on humid smoke saturation. Bellman was with us and he mentioned several things, 1. he had checked the couple into that room a week before us and the 1st thing they asked was where the smoking area was, 2. also commented that the couple luggage smelled so bad of smoke that he could not believe it. 3. Also when we walked in we noticed, all fans were on and windows were left open by cleaning staff, which bellman says never happens.
Bellman called manager and explained the issue. We were brought back to front desk. 100% of BCV rooms were booked and given the late check in, most were occupied. We were offered to move to another
DVC property where we could check into a 1 bedroom for the week and not have to switch rooms, but it is F&W and perfect pool weather, so we really wanted our BCV room. So, we were placed in a 2 bedroom (Lock off) in the Hotel (Not Villas) on the concierge level for the night. They checked us into a new 1 Bedroom in the villas the next day. 2 bedroom in hotel was nice, but no kitchen washing machine etc... Concierge was nice as we grabbed free wine and beer and snacks for the night. It was a bummer that we ran into this though, because we wasted all the time checking in and did not get to hit Epcot EMH on the night we checked in from 9-11PM as we had planned and we could not really unpack as we had to move the next day.
Here is that the Manager did for us to make up for the issue.
1. Gave us 4 free fast passes to the park of our choice that could be used on anything except (A&E and SDMT) We chose Epcot as we had FP's set up everywhere else for mornings as we planned to Food and Wine each night and this made for a nice 2 trips of Test track and 2 on Soarin.
2. Put us in a nice room in the hotel with club access for the 1st night
3. Moved all our luggage from the temp room in the hotel to our villa while we were in the parks
4. Changed our DVC reservation, so we actually got 1 nights worth of points back in "Holding" which with a quick call to DVC were restored to normal points banked into 2015.
On the downside,
1. Couldn't unpack
2. Missed EMH at Epcot on first night
3. Screwed up our charging privledges on our first day as we were between rooms and when they switched the reservation, they deleted my credit card from system, we fixed in person after our 1st day in parks (always carry that emergency credit card to parks in case magic band loses its magic)
As for both rooms we had, sure they are a little dated, but other than the smoke issue, they were just fine. I don't mind older appliances or furniture that looks like it has been used a little bit. Bathrooms were clean, water pressure is awesome, appliance were clean and worked. Bed and linens were comfortable, pull out couch was not all that comfortable, but that is to be expected. Overall it was clean and we never thought anything was too used, everything worked properly, and nothing was an eyesore that we noticed.
As for our smoking room, just so you don't think we are too picky, we passed it on the second day of our vacation and the door was covered in plastic with some machine was running in it, and all the cushions and drapes from the room were in plastic bags just outside the door.
