We bought in for $60 per point. Misleading kind of, it was $75 a point and $5 off if you declined a "Free Deluxe Stay" which we declined making it $70, we also got the first years points which we rented for $10 (equivalent to a typical $10 Magic Beginnings offer) making it $60. Should have bought 500.
I purchased at the BCV soon after they were first offered to the members (only members at this time) in pre-opening phase (Feb 14, 2002 to be exact! ) at $70 per point. I just pulled out the contact to make sure I was remembering the amout correctly and it came to $70. Seems so unbelivable since it can go for $85 to $90 per point on resales now.
We also purchased an add-on at BCV later, but cannot seem to find that paperwork at the moment! So, not sure what that price per point was.
I do however remember our first contact at the BWV in October 2000 was for $67 per point

It is my understanding that those who purchased in the early '90s also got free annual passes until 2000. The value of these annual passes actually equalled their buy in costs, so esentially a 'free' membership.
The preopening price was $75 per point according to my records, but there were deals available to drop $5 off that price if you bought enough points. FWIW, the "official prices" we have paid were $67 per point for OKW in August 2000, $75 per point for BCV in April 2002, $84 per point for OKW in April 2003, and $89 per point for HH in October 2004.

They were building BCV the first time we were looking. After looking into BWV and VWL and deciding against it we thought BCV would be so outrageous that we didn't even look. Of course a few years later we buy in at a higher rate.
As far as the free passes, we spent several years avoiding the DVC desks.
Just think of all the money we saved by not going to WDW 20 days a year.
Uhhh...."asked and answered" as they say in court????? Or perhaps you have trouble believing other people who bought in in 2002 prior to the opening? The price was $75 minus Magical Beginnings if you qualified, as pointed out by several other posts on this thread. But as your post indicates, the prices really started accelerating at a much faster rate after 2000 since we bought in at OKW at $67 (or only $2 more than you) nearly a year after your BWV purchase. As I recall, things started accelerating when VWL sold out so quickly.
I still get sick when I look at the paperwork from DVC visit in 2001. We were offered VWL (while they were still building it) for $75 /pt with some other incentives (I don't remember what).
At the time I thought it was a rip-off. I wish our salesperson had explained Disneys ROFR and had shown sales history of other resorts. I tend to buy based on numbers and not emotion.
VWL is our FAVORITE destination. I now own OKW and SSR and spend my time trying to get my vacations booked at VWL. I keep kicking myself.
