We recently returned from BCV and although I rented a minivan, I chose to take the bus to MK instead of going to T&T center and hopping on the monorail or ferry. Figured it would be quicker. So....I arrived at the bus-stop with my DW and 2yr old DD at 8:50 am and a MK bus was just pulling away. Waited at least 20 minutes for another bus, and it only let 6 people on because it was full. Woman working the bus-stop (useless castmember--didn't do anything) said she radioed for another bus. Asked how ling, she didn't know. 20 minutes later another bus came and was full. Crammed in like a sardine at the front of the bus standing with a stroller and diaperbag, it was the longest busride I have ever taken. Took over 1 hour to get to MK from room to gate. While waiting for bus, 3 empty AK buses pulled up to bus-stop at BC. Why is it that the busiest theme park in the world doesn't have enough buses operating at the resorts. Wouldn't you think that guests staying in the high end resorts, paying top dollr would have better transportation than those at value resorts on property? Just thoughI'd let you know about the horrible bus transportation at BCV. ANother thing, I also saw 3 empty downtown disney buses come to the bus stop at 9am. How many buses do they really need for downtown disney at 9am?

Complain to the parks. This is not just a DVC thing, it's a general problem at the parks. The bus system sometimes works well and sometimes stinks. (It took us almost 2 hours to get from WL to DD at dinnertime, which ruined our supper reservation and our supper.) Persistent howling is the only way to be heard on this subject.

I couple points: I think the parks are just packed and Disney did not increase people, busses and restaurants to accomidate the increase in people. I was there last week and many of restaurants were closed even though the park was packed. The busses at almost all the parks were all overloaded. Disney needs to beef up the service when the parks fill up.

This has been a continual problem at these resorts!!
For some incomprehensible reason people have tolerated the horrible bus service.
I have never understood why the people that are paying cash have not complained in earnest.
You have the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Inn and the Boardwalk Villas.
So in doing the math they expect SEVEN MAJOR RESORTS TO SHARE ONE BUS??????
It still astounds me that cash people have ever returned to this type of abuse, Now as for us DVC members...we are stuck and they know it. I will guarantee you they never advertised the cozy sharing of only one bus for people buying in at BCV.
The only real solution is communication in mass from all DVC members at Boardwalk and Beach Club Villas and the cash customers at any one of the other 5 resorts telling Disney that they will not accept this ridiculous level of service.
I have always meant to bring flyers to share with all my newfound friends that I have to cram on the bus with at MK as well as AK. I really think that the next trip down I take that I will!
Now it had been mentioned that they were splitting the buses somehow between the seven resorts...allthough it doesn't sound as if it has made any real difference.
I am still shaking my head in disbelief about this acceptance of very poor service at these very expensive resorts??????????

I feel for you.

You need to get more familiar with the bus routes, peak times when everyone wants to go to the parks and work around those.

Part of the problem catching the bus at BCV is that the same bus is servicing the other Epcot resorts - and clearly you are later on the route.

Some things you might try in the future - hop on an empty bus possibly going somewhere that you really don't care to go. Then, get off and onto a MK bus from there. If you've had a need to travel between resorts, you are already very familiar with doing this. I have to park our motorhome at Port Orleans when we stay at OKW. I just jump on whatever bus comes first, then switch to the Port Orleans bus from there. Sometimes it's MK, Epcot, or Downtown Disney - doesn't really matter. Same thing when heading from Port Orleans back to OKW. In the end it takes an extra 15 or 20 minutes - but, you don't have to sit at the stop and watch the packed buses go by.

Alternatively, you can walk to a stop earlier on the route - BWV or the Swan/Dolphin getting on before others after that stop - so by the time it gets to BCV, you're on already.

I shake my head at DTD buses at 9am

Last time I was at AKL the AK bus had just pulled away - within 5 minutes there were about 20 of us waiting - the MGM bus pulls up - no one is waiting for MGM

Not sure if the bus driver took the intiative or called in and got clearence but he changed to an AK bus - it was awesome

Now back to BCV/BWV et al bus service

We have learned from these boards and experience to drive where we can - which means AK, Epcot and MGM - MK we find it easier to take a bus and the service has been uneven in quality

I am surprised that the CM at the bus stop did not get an MK bus there sooner or reroute one to BCV first

Good to see our dues money at work

When we were at BVC in Feb a driver told us they are 150 drivers short and it will be worse when SSR opens. He said they are trying to fill the positions as fast as they can.

Drive your car is the only answer to the bus problem. I would say I take the bus only once during every trip down there. I would like to see the buses gone forever but with the low end resorts they have on campus now, building anything now would not be cost effect. Doesn't it get you goat that you pay so much and have to put up with the bus service they have at WDW. At OKW the only service that is ok is the bus to MK. You have some special problems over BCV with bus sharing!!

I do not think getting rid of the buses is the answer to this problem. The answer is to get the bus service up to a standard reliable service for all resorts regardless of whether deluxe or value or anything in between

The bus service has been best at OKW to all parks in our experience and not so great at BWV/BCV

thanks

I always rent a car and usually drive to MK from either OKW or BWV. I timed it one time from OKW. From our front door to the turnstiles at MK, it was 25 minutes. That was using the parking tram & the express monorail. I don't think the bus could beat that considering all the stops it makes around OKW. I just don't have the patience for the bus system.
