BCV - a few questions...

We're staying at BCV for the first time this week and have a few questions I remember skimming across topics over time but didn't pay close enough attention to now that we're going.

1) Shortcut to Epcot? I've looked the BC overview map and have done the walk between Epcot and BC a few times for Cape May (usually in the dark though). I've read people talking about a shortcut to get to Epcot - where you don't go back through the BC or something like that. Can anyone describe this shortcut? Do you just walk the outside perimeter of the right portion of the BC building or is there an even shorter path?

2) Shortcut to MGM? We'll probably walk to MGM, at least most of the time (might catch a boat coming back if it looks convenient). I've read people talk about some kind of shortcut through the BW area for walking to MGM (by the pool??). We're probably even less familiar with the layout here as all of our walks on the BW have been between the IG and the BW lobby.

3) CH - I've read there's no community hall at BCV, that BCV shares with BWV. But I've also read about some kind of solarium or reading room at BCV. Are the board games and DVDs to check out only at BWV or is there something in this common area at BCV?

4) Do the TVs have a PC input? There is a web showing of something I want to watch and at home I hook up my laptop to our big screen and use that as a monitor to watch instead of the 14" laptop screen.

5) We can do EE through the IG, correct?

I've read through the lovers thread (mostly pictures) and the parkinfotogo site. I understand there isn't much to views, which doesn't matter much to us since we don't use the patio. We're plenty young and healthy, so a room on the far wing of the building won't hurt us much either. I'd probably be more interested in being close to our car (no buses for us) or if there's a better spot for the Epcot shortcut.

Any other tips?

Thanks

One more question...

What is the boat loop? I assume it goes from YC, BW, MGM, BW, YC. But I don't really know.

And how long of a trip for the whole route?

I just got back from my Oct 5- Oct 11 BCV stay--it was awesome!

I can answer some of your questions:

1) The short cut is really quite easy. When you leave the BCV through the main door, bear left on the sidewalk. When you get to a left turn in the sidewalk, take it and just follow it around the perimeter of the Beach Club Hotel. You will eventually come to a wrought iron gate. Go through it and take a left. You are now about 1 minute from Epcot's IG.

2) Never walked to DHS, and I have also been told it is a 20-25 minute walk. We just take the boat.

3) You are correct, there is no community Hall at BCV. There are a lot of other things though. In back of the pool, Storm Along Bay, near the walkway between the pool and the path for the slide there is a ping pong table and a pool table. Also, the pool is quite different than most pools at WDW and offers more options that may reduce the need for a CH. They play games with the kids in the pool and give away prizes and so forth. There also have movies on the beach every night after dark. BCVs just has a more "resort-like" atmosphere than some other resorts--in my opinion. I don't know if there are DVDs or games to check out. In my 8 or 10 stays there, I have never done that. We are always too busy with the parks or the pool or the boardwalk, or dinner ...

There are great reading/relaxing rooms at both the Beach Club Hotel and the BCVs that lend themselves nicely to just laying around and reading a book, or grabbing something to eat and taking it there.

4) Don't know about the TV's though I can tell you that the 2 TVs in my 1 bedroom were both flat screen, so given the fact that they are new, I think the chances are good for this.

5) Maybe I'm drawing a blank but I have no idea what EE stands for.

So if you don't care about room placement, you can ask for a room far from the elevators and get one closer to the parking lot for easier access to your car. There is an entrance at the end of the building and one in the middle near the quiet pool and there is a second elevator there.

Also, as a note, we also rent a car for the duration of our stay. But I think the best way to get to the MK is by bus. If you park in the lot you have to contend with the tram and then either the boat or monorail to get to the MK itself. I find it to be quite a hassle--especially if we leave late.

The boat loop picks you up at the dock at BCV (after leaving Epcot and the Boardwalk), then goes to the Dolphin and Swan, and then on to DHS. When leaving the park it does the opposite. After stopping at BCVs it goes to the Boardwalk and then on to Epcot

Let me know if you have any other questions.

You can get DVDs at the gift shop (marketplace) and yes EE (early entry) is at the IG. The shops etc in the lands are not open until 11. The coffee stand near Britain was open when we walked past but we didn't go for EMH so it may not be open then.

1. You are correct about the shortcut hugging the perimeter along the woods as you enter the Beach Club resort on the right when exiting Epcot - you can also enter the resort by the quiet pool in the front and then make your way to
the BCV. The shortcut along the perimeter/woods does take you by ground level patios where you might encounter a guest or two hangining out in their patio.
Overall you might save a few minutes ( 2 or 3 ?) off your walk by avoiding the main lobby entrance.

2.The boat going to the Studios stopeed at the Dolphin/Swan and then went to the Studios. I did the walk once, its not bad ; no real shortcut other than staying along the pathway by the water; you do walk past the BWV swimming pool area.

Other tips - Beach Club, Yacht Club and BCV all share the Stormalong Bay swimming complex and as a result, lounge chairs fill up fast and lunchtime can get very busy at Hurricaine Hannah's - plan ahead if you want to grab a prime spot to lay by the pool.

Hi,

Just a note on walking to HS. My DH and I stayed at YC and walked to HS every time. We beat the boat by a fair clip most days. It took us about 15 minutes, but other people in the concierge lounge we'd gotten to know over the course of the week were making fun of us for being "those crazy canadian walkers" because we hoofed it everywhere.

One thing though - keep the heat in mind on the walk. We were much slower walking when the temperature climbed on our last couple days in September, and found ourselves thinking longingly of the air conditioning on the boat. However, when there were lineups for the boat in the morning or evening, it felt good to just walk on by.

we always take the boat to HS, but walk back at night. There is usually a line to get the boat and the walk back is faster.
