We just returned from our first trip to BCV, they are very nice. But on the down side it is a very long walk to the DVC villas and then an elevator to 5th floor and then down 2 very long hallways. We're not used to this since our home is OKW, we prefer parking in front of our room. It was great being able to use SAB, especially now that you can't pool hop there. On 7/5 it was very crowded, but on 7/8 it was nearly empty and they still went around and checked wrist bands and kicked people out. We also enjoyed walking to Epcot, although it was longer than I expected, but I'm also 7 mos. pregnant so any walk is long. The boat ride to MGM was easy. We were not prepared for the difficulty getting to other resorts, we had ps at Poly on 7/4 and found out we had to take a bus to the TTC and then monorail. We were tired and hungry and took a cab. We also stayed and watched the MK fireworks from the beach. It was mobbed not an inch of space, and the fireworks only lasted 10 minutes, not impressive. I definitely preferred Illuminations and Fantasmic shows. We're happy we checked out BCV, but we're also glad we added on a resale at OKW and did not buy BCV. Just another point of view I guess.

Thanks for the report!! I'm just curious, you said on the 8th they were checking people, were any people asked to leave? Just curious how far they are going at clearing out the pool

We've found using taxis to get to and from the other resorts is a great way to get around quickly. The fare is always reasonable, and much less than the cost of having a rental car that we would rarely use.

It must have been hard to be in that heat when you're expecting. (I swore I'd never have another summer baby after my second was born in August.) I can imagine that any walk seemed to be 1000 miles long.:( :(

I'm sure that the BCV owners will be glad to hear that they're being vigilant in checking ID's at SAB.

Thanks for the report!:D

I, too, own at OKW and like parking in front of my building. But I also did an add-on at BCV and think I will love not having to wait for a bus to get me to EPCOT. Will know for sure when we check it out in September.

Glad you had a good trip, and I am sure you were very tired in that heat. It is hard enough to take when you aren't pregnant.

Welcome to DIS drise!

That's why them have different options for DVC.

Isn't it great how everyone likes something different?:D

Good luck with the baby, too;)

Hi everyone,

Just there for 2 weeks of July, SAB was awesome, I didn't think it was crowded at all, I mean there was people in the pool, but still plenty of room for all to have fun, sometimes they checked my room key, sometimes they didn't, it did not seem like a big deal to the lifeguards. Didn't see any arguements just alot of happy swimmers.

Though they did close the Beach Club side one day, I heard someone say the "poop" word, but after they tested they reopened within a hour.

All and all a great time.

That's what I like to hear! Glad you enjoyed your trip.

I wish that the Beach Club/Yacht Club would spend some money on SAB. The pool has gone consistantly downhill since we first "hopped" over there a few years ago. The sinking sands barely work, and what happened to the bubbles that used to boil up over by the the exit to the slide?

Although we enjoyed our stay at BCV, my wife is in no hurry to book another room there so that we can swim in SAB.

Towncrier,

We were at the BC in May and I asked the lifeguard the same questions about the sand and the bubbles. She explained that with the bubbles going that the lifeguards could not see the bottom of the pool and for safety reasons they would have to put another station by there at a cost of $30,000. So for now they have been turned off, as far as the sinking sand I never got back to asking her, we got caught up talking about the training that they are put through so I forgot to get back to it.

Hope this answers at least one of your questions.

Thanks for the quick reply. The first time that we swam in SAB, the sinking sands were the highlight of our vacation. We went back a year or two later, and it wasn't working. The lifeguard told us that he thought the pump had been damaged in a lightning storm only a week or two earlier. And two years later, the pump still doesn't work. Don't get me wrong. We like to pool and enjoy our time there. Only we won't be adding on any points at BCV just to get access to SAB.

We've had a couple of discussions recently about getting from one resort to another without using a car. Your experience mirrors mine, that it's a pain. Hopefully this will be helpful for others. There are ways to do it though so anyone interested could go back and search over the past month or so. BTW, don't give Rich any amunition about the long walks, LOL.

I wondered about the walk last week when I was at BWV and the bus dropped people off at Beach Club first. The farthest villas look miles from the bus stop! How has this been for people so far? It looks like it would be one long walk to the elevator and another long walk to the bus stop--and at night a very long way back to the villa if you have little ones.

While we were there, I tried different routes from the bus stop. It seemed quicker to take the sidewalk past the parking lot to the far end of the villas and cross over the canal versus going up to the main entrance then over to the villas. I guess it also depends on where your room is.

Believe it or not, most BCV rooms are probably a bit closer to the bus stop than some of the Beach Club rooms. You don't have to walk through the BC lobby in order to get to the bus stop. If you bear right as you exit the BCV, you follow a sidewalk that leads straight to the Porte Cochere and then it's a short walk from there to the bus stop. Of course, with small kids in tow, there is no such thing as a short walk.

Good idea to show the map, Towncrier. Just to clarify which route I posted...there is a sidewalk that extends from the bus stops along the canal to the far end of the BCV.

I updated the map to show your route in GREEN. You will need a room key to get into the entrances at the end of the wings.
