I do not have enough points for a 2 bedroom at BCV but i do have enough for 2 studios ( we are a family of 5).

I am looking for pros and cons of doing this from the experts. I am sure I am giving up the full kitchen but it looks like I will still be getting enough sleeping space and 2 full baths.

What do you all think?? Anyone ever done this to save points?

The big consideration is there are no studios that connect. You can request that they be close together but there is no guarantee. The 1 bedrooms at BLT and AKV Kidani hold 5 and have 2 bathrooms.

If someone can sleep on an air mattress that you provide, you can stay in a 1 bedroom at BCV. It's reported that you can book 5 in those 1 bedrooms.

I sometimes book 2 studios rather than a 2 bedroom when we're bringing friends, and more often than not, the 2 studios are NOT nearby even when we've requested that they be. It's never been an issue, but with your nuclear family it could be.

You might be able to change a weekend day to a DVC discounted cash reservation to conserve points if you really want a 2br, but if you are comfortable in a 1br that is the simplest solution.

Here is the thread where there is more information on occupancy.

You could also rent points from another member for a few nights (usually cheaper than cash) and link two resssies for a 2 bedroom....when are you looking to go and how long did you want to stay... how short are you on points?

this is all good info...I knew I could count on the disboards to help me out with this.

I didnt know you cant get joining studios.

Will Disney rent the extra points I need to make it into a 2 bedroom or do I need to do that with another member?

you need to go thru another member... head over to the rent/trade board and see what is available

I will only need 48 points. Are people willing to rent so little?

Yes but you need to rent in allotments of a night, otherwise you will have to find someone willing to transfer... the other member will make the reservation for you and you will pay them and then link the two thru DVC.... is 48 pts equal to any combination of the nights you are staying?

48 points is exactly what I am short...

I guess if I had another member make a ressie for me for the last night of our proposed stay (Friday) I would need to rent 65 points.

I may change the dates of my vacation so that I am only short 9 points. Could I then just ask a member for a tranfer of points?

You can try for a transfer but remember you and the other member may each only do one transfer per year... you may have trouble finding someone willing to transfer a few pts... you may do better renting....good luck to you!

oh I did not know that about 1 transfer per year. Boy you have been so helpful. I love this disboard. It is truly a community that helps eachother.

Thank you!! Have a magical day!!

Another thing to consider with two studios is the ages of the occupants. At least one occupant of each studio needs to be 18 yo, so if your party of 5 is you, your spouse, and 3 kids under 18, you and your spouse would need to be regstered in different rooms, and possibly, for liability reasons, one adult would need to sleep in each studio.

You would probably be better off paying cash for that night with the member discount, it would probably be less than $650 (figuring $10/point).

For the 9 points - can you borrow?

Debbie is probably right on this one!! DVC disc will most likely be cheaper or the same and then you won't have to deal with renting, you just have to see if cash is available, if not then you will need to rent!
