How far out can I book and how far out should I book? Sorry I am completely new to DVC points system. We always stay at BC though and this seems like the only sane approach to going back. We have gone from a family of 4 to a family of 8 in a year lol. We are not looking at going until Oct of 11. I am just trying to figure out how quickly I need to have money etc.

Are you a DVC member? If so, what is your home resort? If BCV is your home resort, you can book 11 months in advance. If your home resort is not BCV, you can book BCV (or any resort that isn't your home resort) 7 months in advance.

If you aren't a DVC member and you are looking to rent points from a DVC member, your best bet is to try to reach a deal with a BCV owner so you can get the 11 month booking advantage. Food & Wine starts in October and that makes BCV a very popular location - give the small size of the resort, rooms book up quickly.

I assume you are talking about renting points from a member?

A DVC Beach Club Villas owner can book 11 months out. A DVC member that owns at a different resort can book 7 months out.

Many book exactly when those windows open. BCV is a small DVC property as well vs. somewhere like SSR, so not as many rooms to be had.

To be safest, you should find a BCV owner to rent points from MORE than 11 months in advance, so your arrangements could be all set in time for them to book at 11 months out.

When you would have to pay would be between you and that individual owner.

Edited to add: That Tara - she's so smart :thumbsup2

Thanks guys. We could stay at BW or CR as well. We just favor the BC resort in general. We are looking at renting points right now. We were going to buy into DVC but we are looking at moving to Fl in a few years so we are holding off. How soon is to soon to start looking for a member to rent points from? (sorry I am a planner lol)

We were in a very similar situation 4 years ago before we finally bought in to BCV. We rented points for october travel in 2006, and stayed in a 2br at BCV. We had no problem booking in February, but you could book as early as November. I would definitely start looking for someone to rent from as soon as the 11 month window opens up in november. That will give you a couple of months to find someone with enough points at a reasonable price. I waited a little late to book in February, and ended up paying more for points than I wanted to in order to book before the 7 month window opened up. I was afraid that once that happened, there wouldn't be any 2br left. I have never tried booking after the 7 month window opened, so I am not really sure how fast they go.

Trying to get a 2BR and BCV or BWV at a 7month window is sheer luck -- so your best bet is to find an owner at the resort of your choice, to have the 11 month window. Especially, since you are looking at October, with the Food and Wine Festival, the BC and BW will book up very, very quickly.

Try to rent points from a BCV owner. They will be able to book the reservation for an Oct 2011 stay in Nov 2010. You will probably be ok looking for points during Oct of 2010 but you could start earlier if you wish.
