BC/YC-Why no counter service?

We stayed at the BC last year and have reservations at the YC this summer. The only thing I really disliked about the BC is the counter service. I still think about it and laugh how inept it is. You wait on line at this one counter and your choice is a flatbread or a turkey sandwich. No burger, no fries, Nada. I just saw a fantastic picture of a hot turkey meal with homemade potatoes and string beans at Pop for like $10. There's no burger even if you go out to the pool bar and who wants to order food and wait there? I just find it unacceptable at the lack of quick service snack you can get here. I know you can walk to BWI but who wants to walk in the blazing sun to go get a burger or decent lunch? Why has Disney not made a decent quick service at the YC/BC? It's really strange.

We really enjoyed Hurricane Hannah's. The Bacon Cheeseburger, Pulled Pork sandwich, Grilled Chicken Sandwich and the Seafood roll are all excellent IMHO. The kids menu has Cheeseburger, Chicken Nuggets and a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Our son likes them all.

The poolside service is a nice touch so you don't have to wait in line.

Hurricane Hannah's by Stormalong Bay is the YC/BC counter service location that offers burgers, fries, etc.

None of the deluxes have a food court, like Pop or AOA. Even the better QS are more limited.

OK. The WDW menu doesn't show burgers, that's good to know. We must of missed it last summer.

It took me awhile to decide to give Epcot resorts a try. But have stayed at both BC & YC, and never had a problem with finding food. The marketplace was adequate for our needs, we mostly have breakfast in our room.
Love the burgers at Hurricane Hannas and Crews Cup at YC. Lots of TS options. Mostly we are at a park during lunch.
For dinner you have so many choices in the Epcot area.

We do hurricane hannas for the normal quick service type stuff and also Beaches and Cream take out window.

If you find the QS at the YC/BC unacceptable, why did you book a stay at the YC? There are lots of other choices.
I love the BC just the way it is

This is actually one of the reasons we prefer BWI over BC. With Boardwalk Bakery, the pizza window, the food kiosks and Ample Hills, there's simply more variety there, IMHO.

I agree with you. For a deluxe resort, I would expect more options. I didn't like what I was served at Hurricane Hannah's.

There are a lot of dining options at YC/BC; they're mostly table service.

That's just the way Disney has set up their resort categories. At values, you get counter service. At moderates, you get a mix of counter service and table service. At deluxes, you generally get several table service restaurants and limited counter service.

There is a new counter service option at YC. It's where Ale and Compass was. It was supposed to open before summer season.

No, it is where the gift shop was, not Ale & Compass. And it is already open. They have cold grab & go items, no real hot food. Ale & Compass is still open. The gift shop is temporarily in the lobby & will relocate back to it's previous area when the remodel is open. It will be set up similarity to BC, with some food offerings & gift shop in one space. More info including pictures on the Y & B forum. Dee keeps the first page very up to date.

Thanks for that. After all these years, I never thought of it that way. Much nicer response than those asking "Why'd you stay there then?"

Thanks for the clarification!
