I have an opportunity to stay at the Yacht Club, but counter service meals at my resort is something that's important to me. Can anybody please tell me about the CS options at the Yacht Club/Beach Club? Also, is there anywhere to fill up the refillable mugs?

Just came back from a stay at the Yacht Club last week and I must say it was wonderful!! We had the dining plan for the 1st time and we weren't sure either what was available but it worked out fine. If you use a CS for breakfast, you can go to Ale & Compass at the Yacht club. They have a small selection of bagels, croissants, muffins etc. and you get 2 drinks with that. I would get a coffee or sometimes cappuccino and a bottle of water to take with me to the parks. Over at the beach club there is the Marketplace with more of a selection of pastries etc. and they also offer an egg (& cheese) croissant (with 2 drinks of course). For lunch, you can go to Hurricane Hannah's by the pool and they have a selection of sandwiches and "cool" desserts (ices, ice creams etc.). Not sure what the Marketplace has for lunch (never made it in there at that time). If you don't mind a little "traveling", we found the Boardwalk Bakery (over at the Boardwalk hotel) a great place for CS lunch. They have some good sandwiches (and a GREAT chicken caesar salad). The best thing is that you get to pick ANY dessert from the bakery. The carrot cake is to die for!!!

Also, the refillable mug can be filled at the Marketplace, Hurricane Hannahs, Ale and Compass and Beaches and Cream.

I haven't been to the Yacht club for CS but just down the walk to Beach Club is a great CS.

Thanks for the replies. One more question. Are these CS locations pretty much premade meals (yes I know they'd be fresh from that day and not cafeteria style) or are they made at the time of placing the order? I'm trying to get a feel for how difficult it'll be to get CS meals special ordered for food allergies. I know they'll be able to do something for us but I'm trying to figure out if we'll have to order ahead of time or if we'll be able to just walk up and order (and wait longer than most people obviously).

When we stayed at BC a few years ago there was a counter in the Marketplace where you could have a deli sandwich made. I remember doing that one day and taking them out by the pool. Also, Beaches & Cream has a take out window, we got milkshakes there so I can't remember if it was also food service. :confused3 Lastly, we got our kids "dinner" one night from Hurricane Hannah's at the pool before we adults went out to eat, the food was ok from there, chicken fingers, burgers, wraps etc....

I had considered leaving HS and visiting Hurricane Hannah's for lunch (I've always wanted to see BC). I know that only resort guests can use the BC pool, but does anyone know if they exclude Hurricane Hannah's from nonBC guests?

We stayed at the yacht club for the first time in May and loved it, but we were very dissapointed in not having very much as far as counter service choices.
we have stayed at the caribbean beach and loved the counter service that they have there, wish the yacht club had more to choose from.Just so you know what to expect as far as the dining choice, other then that the resort is awesome and we will be staying there once again in Nov for our pre cruise night.:cool1:

I seem to remember it being open to anyone. The only time we were ever checked for our resort id's was actually entering the pool area which you had to do at certain check points. The kids were asked to show their wristbands on the slide.

HH was sort of open at one side to the public walkway. There would be convention type folks sitting at the bar with a drink, families in pool attire and park clothes too. There is probably a menu posted online.

I have to agree with a PP, the CS choices at the YC/BC are very limited. If you are used to a Value or Moderate Food Court, you will be very disappointed here. I think it is important that your expectations are set correctly, as you make your choice. The options, for all meals, are limited.
JMHO

We must be in the minority but we liked the cs choices at BC/YC. Of course we never stayed at a mod or value so the cs there might be very different.

At Hurricane Hannah's we love that they have the same burgers as Beaches and Cream.

At BC Marketplace my one dd fell in love with the turkey and mozzarella sandwich with basil mayo, dh liked the wrap sandwich, and I thought the ham and cheese sandwich was pretty good. I liked the New England clam chowder there. Also for your dessert there are lots of good things - not the least of which is the gelato YUM! DD also liked the brownies and I liked the key lime tart.

Breakfast was more limited - although I'm so sorry to hear that the counter service breakfast at B&C (which was a trial when we were there) isn't going to be continued. That was so nice - pancakes, egg platters etc.

Now my kids do like the egg and cheese croissants at BC Marketplace, I like the cinnamon rolls and DH likes the yogurt parfaits.

HTH.

I really am trying to set my expectations appropriately. I have been COMPLETELY spoiled by the food court at Pop. I really do want to be able to make the Yacht Club work for us so I'm glad to have the wonderful people here on the DIS to help me out. :thumbsup2

I hadn't heard that the breakfast at Beaches & Cream has been put to an end. I had understood it to be quite popular. :confused3

What options would I have at BWI or Swalphin?

What kinds of grocery options are available?

Are you on the dining plan or are you just looking for dining options? I felt that it met my needs for basics, but then again I wouldn't eat at any WDW counter service location over and over.
The great thing about YC/BC is there are so many options within walking distance. You can try out a plethora of food options.

We cant resist the 10 min walk to EPCOT from YC/BC for counter lunches-it just means so much more to us than the hotel food courts. Sitting outside at Morocco/Mexico/R&C fish n chips etc around the EPCOT lake is just more immersion in Disney for the little time we have down there. Of course it takes a park ticket (and maybe a hopper or AP) so there is that. Beaches and Cream is one of our favorites at WDW as well. Double cheeseburger, fruit and a No Way Jose Sundae is as good as it gets IMO. Happy planning.

Yeah, the options are limited. But that being said, we usually just walk over to Epcot and get a CS at one of the countries. I know people love Hurricane Hannah's, but I am not overly impressed with it. The bakery at the boardwalk is another good choice. Overall, as others said, it is not like a mod or value food court, but you can find something.

Enjoy The Magic!!

Thanks everybody. For the time that we'd be at Yacht club, we wouldn't be able to purchase a dining plan. I figure we'll likely have to buy hoppers if we stay there, just so we can go to Epcot more often to eat. We'll certainly have to eat differently then we normally do. Why do I complicate things for myself? Oh yeah, because I'm a Disney addict who's always looking for more deals. LOL
