Hi everyone -
I'm trying to book a BC Studio with DVC points for the end of February and am wait listed for our dates. However, when I go to the WDW reservation site, I can book a studio for those dates for cash. I don't understand how this works. Why am I waitlisted but I could pay cash for the same room and dates? This may already be answered somewhere on this site, forgive me if that's the case.

Thanks for any help!

The rooms available through DVC (for points) are different inventory than those avaiable for cash reservations. Disney reservations come from someone trading out their points (for a cruise or something like that) - the reservation is then rented to cover the cost of whatever is being traded to- so the same room can't be rented for points again.

You're looking at two different buckets of room inventories. There are often rooms available for cash but not for points and vice versa.

Most of the DVC rooms that are available for cash are the result of a DVC member using points for a cruise or selected other non-DVC resort options. So really, those rooms have been traded by a DVC member to get something else - DVC sends the "used rooms" to CRO to rent for cash so that there is money to pay for the "something else" chosen by the DVC member. Without this system, the only place you could use DVC points would be at a DVC resort.

Hope your waitlist comes through.
