BC requests?

so if we are NOT owners, we should not bother making requests as to room selections, views , etc?

Here is my opinion, you are renting from someone else not BC, unless you go directly through the hotel at a higher rate. The person you are renting from would need to make those request. Ken makes the requests for me when he books the reservation bug last year I forgot to ask him about the lower floors so I had to request that when I got there. If you are renting points that money goes to the owner not BC, they get their cut from the owner later :).

Just like a cruise, if you book with a TA you can't call the cruise line to make any changes or requests to your reservation only your TA can.

Might be a good reason to rent points through someone with higher status, I don't really,now if that would be better or not.
 
We just got back from a week stay at Bonnet Creek and rented through VS. The front desk was very accommodating when trying to find us a room that met our requests. They gave us a choice of two different Towers, and we decided on Tower 5 high floor with a firework view. It was perfect! My guess is that it all depends on the time you are going. If they have the availability they will try to work with any prior requests. If they are booked, there is not much they can do.
 
Based on my understanding of the situation, your ability to get a specific view, room, etc. is no different than it ever was - if it's available at check-in, you'll get it. If not, oh well. There is a lot of inventory here and not everybody can get the "best" rooms.

The only thing that has changed is that WBC is now officially not taking requests over the phone unless you are a "premium" owner (don't recall the term they use for that level of ownership). If you've read these threads at all, you know that a request was never a guarantee. Sounds to me like WBC is taking a reasonable step to lessen the phone calls their staff was dealing with, and more importantly, manage guest expectations. You can't be upset about not getting something you never (thought you) had.
 

Our vacation for 2 weeks at BC in July is booked. I've read that you can't call and request a building or view. I'm just curious if a lot of people ask for ground floor rooms.

Last year we took a vacation at a Wyndham resort in West Virginia and we had a ground floor room facing the lake and we really liked it. My little nephew who was 2 at the time enjoyed going out on the lawn and feeding the geese. He looked forward to doing that every day.

Does the lake at BC have a fence around it?

there is no fence unless you are on the boardwalk.
 
I'm here now and called a week before my arrival they took the request which pretty generic. Pool or lake view anything except ground floor. We're in tower 2, second floor with a view of parking lot. I'm sure I would have enjoyed a better view but honestly it's so peaceful sitting on the balcony. I think if we had a pool view we probably wouldn't get out and enjoy the resort as much.
 
If BC follows the rules for the benefits extended to VIP owners it should not matter if the person you are renting from has Plat status or not and makes the request for you - your request shouldn't be honored. BC is the biggest offender of extending "favors".

As per Wyndham:


"All VIP benefits, both while planning your vacation and during your stay, are exclusively for VIP members of CLUB WYNDHAM Plus. When a Guest Confirmation is applied to a reservation, VIP benefits extended to that reservation will no longer be valid unless you, the VIP member, are traveling with your guest for the length of the reservation. Guests traveling without a CLUB WYNDHAM Plus VIP Member present will not receive VIP benefits during their stay."
