BC question

I'm looking into different resorts for next summer, and my favorite right now is the BC. I've always wanted to stay there and never had the chance; hopefully next summer will be the chance I've been waiting for.

My only problem is that I know not all of the rooms have a full patio/balcony, and I don't want to stay without one. So my question is, is there a certain room view or room category that you can request (pay extra for) and be guaranteed a room with a full balcony?

I know that the YC is an option because most (if not all) of the rooms have a patio or balcony, but I really want to stay at the BC is it's possible.

I think they are scatterd out . You could put that as your 1st request but not really sure if they can even tell what ones do and what ones don't.

We just got back from the Villa and loved having the 1st fl so it was not an issue with us.

Yeah I figured the balcony rooms were probably scattered, I was just thinking like maybe all waterview rooms had a balcony (and therefore we could pay more for a waterview room and be sure we have a balcony). Or maybe all CL rooms have a balcony and possibly that'd be an option. I don't know, I would love to stay at the BC but I would hate to pay all that money and then get there and not a balcony (which we do use and have gotten used to having on vacations).

Not sure about the concierge level rooms, but even waterview rooms can have that itty-bitty (and it is SMALL, to the point of being ... well ... pointLESS) balcony.

When we checked into the BC last month, they asked me what kind of room configuration I wanted (2 queens/king/etc.) and I told them a full balcony was more important. They gave us a lovely 2-queen room with a full balcony and a woods view. :)

I hate to think the best thing I can do is request a full balcony (even though that seems to be the answer, and thanks for the replies!), it just makes me nervous thinking that there could be a possiblity that it wouldn't happen. I'm going to have to talk to someone on the phone and see if there is anything besides requesting it that I can do. If not, it might make the chances of booking BC slimmer. :(

I know what you mean. I'd wanted to stay at the BC for years (9 actually!) but one of the big things that kept holding us back was the potential for the little balcony. We really like and *use* the balcony, so it's a big deal to us! The only reason we gave it a shot was because we got a great AP rate. Now we're glad we did, but I wish there was a way to guarantee a full balcony!

The only thing we requested on our only stay at BC was a balcony and we had one of the itty-bitty ones. We called to see if we could be moved to a different room but apparently the resort was close to capacity.

As much as I like BC theming a tiny bit better than YC, I don't think I'd choose to stay at BC again. I'd pick YC going forward for the balcony. I love having a balcony -- it's one of my favorite things about deluxe resorts.

Yeah having a balcony is one of my favorite parts of the delux hotels aswell. I love to be able to sit out on the balcony early in the morning before getting ready to head out, or late at night before turning in. I can't imagine staying at a delux and not having a balcony, as silly as it sounds if I did book BC got there and didn't have a balcony I would be upset (spending that kind of money and not having all the amenities of the delux makes me a little sad).

I don't love the theme of the YC as much as the BC but I do love that you have all the same amenties as the BC (the pool, tennis courts, activities, etc.) so maybe that'll be the way we have to go. I've never seen the YC in person but I'm sure it's beautiful. And all the YC rooms do all have a full balcony right?

Yes, they do. :)

I know a lot of people choose the YC over the BC for that reason alone. For our family, we just don't like the YC decor or rooms ... they just doesn't "fit" us for whatever reason. If we were forced to choose between the two, the atmosphere/theming of the BC is more important to us, so we'd take a chance on not having the full balcony as opposed to staying at a resort we just don't like as much. YMMV, of course! ;)
