Ugh! Just got to BC yesterday and found out the Marketplace no longer has the made-to-order salads! I thought Disney wanted us to eat healthier!!!!! :(((

The Gelato is also gone. :sad2:

You took the words right out of my mouth. It's been about 2 years since they replaced that wonderful gelato (fav was the chocolate/raspberry combo)
with more muffins and pastries and I'm not over it yet. And the made to order salads were perfect for a light, really fresh meal.

That's a shame, we had one in September!

Do they still make them at Roaring Fork at WL? Does anyone know?

They still made them in April when we visited WL. I'm hoping they still do, as that freshly made salad is something we order at least once every trip.

Most likely, Disney wanted to find a new market... That probably didn't materialize. No profit, no product. No getting around it... it's a business.

I hope so too! Roaring Fork's were better I thought, the bits of apple were special!

We were there in July and the wonderful CM making the salads shared that we should "enjoy them now because they will be going away in August". She wasn't sure why that was the case but we certainly expressed our disappointment. What do they have to replace them?

Just sandwich makings.

I never missed the gellato, it wasn't to my liking. Maybe my friends and I had sandwiches and clam chowder in September. I know my DGC were with me for the salad at BCV, so that had to be June, not September. I'm sorry that they are gone.

Our family did enjoy going to Picabo at the Dolphin for a meal or two. DH doesn't like the fact that they add a service charge to the cafeteria food.

They had a little prepackaged gelato in the case last night, but I'm still in mourning since they did away with the pistachio gelato years ago. And I, also, was very disappointed about the demise of the made-to-order salads. We had the pre-made salads from the cooler, which were just OK. At least they still have the coconut chocolate chip bars-for now.

What? This stinks, I loved those salads!! The pre made ones are just not the same!

Hummm....I was thinking of going over to Picabo this trip but I know DH would not be happy with an added service charge either. Glad you mentioned that.

Well, they give a DVC discount, so in the end, you're not really paying the service charge.

You order, and then go to a table and the prepared food is brought to your table. I'm guessing that's why there's the service charge. It's for everyone. Those hotels know how to tack on the extras! The mac and cheese was a huge hit, with adults and children. The chicken pot pie had it's admirers too.

I do not care for anything they offer at the Marketplace. I wish they could have the same offerings as the Artist's Palette at SS. I realize it is because of the TS establishments at the Y&BC, but it sure would be great to have this alternative. I can't see it ever happening though.

It's too bad but I imagine if the salads had been popular enough, they would still be offered. I'm glad the sandwiches are still there. I like taking those on the plane for the trip home.

Last I knew, Hurricane Hanna's had a salad on the menu and Captain's Grille has good salads but is sit down of course.

Simba's Mom, how's BCV? I miss it.

We were there the end of August and I, too, was extremely disappointed about the salads! I spoke to the manager about it and she said that they had a lot of requests for more sandwiches and pointed out that they still had premade salads in the refrigerator. I told her that we didn't care for those (IMHO, they don't compare to the freshly made ones). She did say, as did a server at SAB, that Hurricane Hanna's is shutting down for a short while in Jan/Feb to be totally rehabbed and that their menu may possibly be changing. She also said not to expect any significant changes to the Marketplace menu for a couple of years. I guess we will eat in our room more.
