We leave for the BCV in 16 days :cool1: We have a few questions:

Is there CS at BC or YC that you love and we shouldn't miss? We already have B&C on our to do list :drool

In Stormalong Bay are there a kiddie slide and the big slide? It looks like it from the picture. How deep is the water in at the big slide and how young are kids that are using it. My kids are 5 and nearly 7.

How crowded is Stormalong in the afternoon in the last week of August

Now about transportation:

Does anyone that's been there recently know what order the buses pick up and drop off between BC and MK? My understanding is they stop at YC and maybe BW too.

How long does the bus trip to MK take?

How crowded and reliable are the busses?

Do you take the boat to MGM or drive?

TIA :goodvibes

There really isn't a counter service restaurant in the Epcot Resorts area. Hurricane Hannah's out by SAB is about it. You can get a few sandwiches and wraps at the BC Marketplace. I find the Yacht Club Galley to be a nice restaurant for a basic meal when you're hungry. The food is good and I actually prefer their burgers to the ones at Beaches and Cream (although you can't beat the ice cream at B&C).

There is a small slide in addition to the large slide at the pool. Afternoons can be crowded, but you can also have problems with the afternoon thunderstorms closing the pool for a while. If you can swim earlier in the day, or in the evening, you'll have less risk of a closed pool. I often read posts where people are upset about this, but it's really for your own safety. Most lightning strikes in Florida occur when a storm is near, but not at, your location, so they take it very seriously.

I've never had a problem with the buses, but I tend to travel at non-peak times, and I'm there during the slower times of the year. When I have been on them, they typically stop at all five Epcot resorts: Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC/BCV, BWI/BWV (in that order). My last trip was in April, just before they brought the new bus dispatch system on line, so they may be running them differently. I do take the boat to MGM. It seems like I always end up in the back of the parking lot if I drive, and the boat drops you off right up front. You can walk too, if you like. The bus ride to MK takes about 15 minutes from the last stop, but if you are planning to be there at a specific time (say, for an ADR or rope drop), allow yourself about an hour, just in case.

My answers:
Nope. Hope you have a good experience at B&C though. It seems to be hit or miss.

I've seen every age from 4 to 70 on the big slide.

No way to know. Each day or week is different. Sorry.

Bus stops (usually) in order are:
S,D,YC,BC,BW
On rare occasions, I have seen the BW first in that loop.

Last visit, the bus from BC to MK was 14-15 minutes roughly, with the stop at BW to pick up others. I was bored, and timed it.

Crowded - depends on time of day and destination. Reliable - no more than 20 minute wait, except for DTD busses in the late afternoon early evening. Have waited 30 minutes for those before.

Boat - all the way. Walked once or twice. That's one of the perks of the BC location, taking the a/c'd boat.

Thanks for the info. I'm an ex-lifeguard and know all about closing pools for thunderstorms. It really is safety first ;)

Is the YC Gallery a CS or TS place?

The YC Galley is a TS credit.

At the BC/BCV, I LOVE the BC Marketplace. Even when I've had to stay at BWV (because no room at BCV), I've gone to BC Marketplace in the evening for this:

The gelato is awesome! I also like the other offerings, especially the grilled veggie wrap, the roast beef and brie sandwich, and the chocolate chip macaroon bar.

We leave in 25 days for our first BCV trip! :cool1:

Didn't know about that Gelato, so thanks you to Simba's Mom for posting those pictures!!!

OP - your children are absolutely ADORABLE! Have a great trip and be sure to report back when you return.

Hi. We just spent 8 days at the BC-our first stay there and we loved it. I have two teenagers, and I think it was the location of the resort that made it so terrific. EPCOT is so much closer that I remembered, and it was just a wonderful resort. Everything was just so convenient--the gift shop/marketplace, arcade, restaurants, Boardwalk. I've stayed at the Poly or POR, but we'd probably stay at the YC or BC next time.

Stormalong bay is a wonderful pool and it really wasn't crowded, at least not as crowded as I expected it to be.

Beaches and cream is a cute little restaurant, and my kids loved to stop in and get ice cream in the afternoons. The hamnburgers and french dip-type sandwich was awesome.

Beware the arcade--DD ran up an impressive charge to the room key--$5 at a time, LOL. In her defense, she won 3 MP-3 players, and a video, and gave away some of her smaller prizes to other kids.

The marketplace also had a delicious ham/egg/cheese croissant big enough for two that we got a couple of mornings, and the cinnamon rolls were very good.

I bet that by the end of August, the crowds will not be as thick.

You'll love it!
