I am making BBQ chicken for dinner on our relatively new gas grill. It has been years since I made this. I have put some oil on the chicken and it is on the grill. I plan to turn it in about 20 minutes and then brush with BBQ sauce. I am cooking at medium heat, not directly over the flame.

Any tips or pointers so I don't have raw or burnt chicken?

It's too late now, but I always boil it for about 15-20 minutes before I put it on the grill.

I follow the guide that came with the grill, a Weber in this case. I just put it on for the time it says, indirect, adding BBQ suace, if desired last 20 minutes, never turn it.

I was wondering the same thing today! Let us know how it turns out.

Drive down to the nearest chicken joint (in my case it would be BW3 or Quaker Steak and Lube), buy some barbeque chicken, secretly place it on the grill, wait 5 minutes, place on the plate and yell

"TAAAAAAAA DAAAAAAAAA!!!!!"

Actually, I usually use the frozen breast patties that you buy at Sam's Club, and 20 minutes sounds good. The sauce goes on for only about 5 minutes because it will char. Direct heat works for me, but I have to oil the grate so it won't stick. Reynolds wrap works good too, and their web site has been helpful with ribs.
Good luck.

The results are in.

First off, it is a Weber gas grill and the book that came with it only has "fancy" recipes. Nothing like chicken with Kraft BBQ sauce on it. I tried recipe buddy, google, and the Weber site without success

So, what I did worked. I had 2 each of thigh, leg, and breast. I put some oil on first and cooked one side for about 20 minutes. I turned and cooked the other side about 20 minutes. Then I put the sauce on for about 15 minutes more. It was very tasty and not dry. I may try this again.

Thanks for your input.

And we had salad and corn on the cob, which was delicious.

My father in-law uses that sauce, and it's prety good.

Glad to hear it cooked nicely.
