BBB in July?

I have an appt for DD (5) at BBB. My husband thinks it will be too warm to get it done and that she'd want to let it out right away since it will be so hot. What do you think? Will it be too hot?

are you doing the castle package? or just doing the hair and make up? Costume may be too hot, but if she gets her hair put up like a princess, then it will be cooler. Make up might melt. What time of day is the reservation?

Our dd, who was 4 at the time, did BBB in April and it was hot. She did the castle package, and after the photo session she was ready to take the costume off. Her hair was up in a bun, and the make up was done lightly and we didnt have any problems. The hair managed to stay three days before we took it down and washed it. The humidity will be higher in July.

But I guess the bottom line is, is this something your dd wants to really experience and is it worth it to you to let her, even if he doesn't last long?

For us, we are glad we did, the photos from the photo session are priceless. We only got so many pictures in the package, but all the photos that were taken were put on our photopass!

my two dd (6,4) did it in August! We had early appointments so the girls wore their costumes/dresses to the BBB. They got the princess style (high tight bun). We went for breakfast at CRT and then went to Exposition hall for photos. They went on a few rides before heading back to the resort shortly after noon to rip the dresses right off and throw on swimsuits!!! They went splashing in the pool, never dunking their heads under water (they can't swim anyways!). I was able to salvage their hair and the girls reapplied their makeup using the left over palette they got in their goody bags after the BBB. At bedtime they couldn't wait to undo their hair and wash off the ton of gel and hairspray used.

Will they want to do it again when we go back this year? No. But they enjoyed the experience last year. They were hot, but it's not like they wore the dresses all day long. If you DD is excited to be doing it, I say let her (show her photos and video clips of girls getting their hair done...my DD watched youtube videos of little girls doing the BBB which got her really excited). You and DD will see a lot of little girls all dressed and made up walking all over the parks. I say let her decide. Try to encourage her to do the princess style (bun) as it takes all the hair off her back and neck. The other style with the faux hair might make it hotter for her.

We did one just last week and it was SO HOT there. But daughter just did the hair, makeup and nails and never complained through the day. They did her hair and pulled it up in a ponytail and curled it around for a bun (she has shoulder-length thick hair) and the only thing hanging down was the extensions from the colored pieces they put in her hair. Never complained or anything. It was probably 95 but the humidity was NASTY. I swear I lost 10 lbs just sweating!! Just my two cents.

My dd's did this in August too. They were 8 and 4 at the time. I was really worried about the 4 year old just ripping it out, but she actually loved it and loved walking around with her hair like that!! We did not get the costumes though, they had minnie pirate t-shirts from e-bay that were lightweight.

My niece had just the hair and makeup done in June three years ago and she loved it. She had it done on the Wednesday, mid way through our trip and kept in the rest of the week. It made it very cool for her as her hair wasn't flying all over her face. She is really looking forward to getting it done this October again.

My niece did it last October (she was almost 5) and it was very warm while we were there. Hair and makeup lasted most of the day, but the costume lasted for about an hour. I had a princess sun dress with me (that her Nana made for her) and she changed into that. I will say she did end up wearing the costume later in the week for the princess breakfast (I was able to redo her hair pretty close to what she had at BBB) and since it was cooler that day she ended up keeping the costume on almost all day.

My 3 year old is doing the whole she-bang in July...I am taking an extra outfit for her to change into, but it wouldn't surprise me if she refuses to take the dress off until we head back to the resort after lunch. I'm pretty militant about keeping her hydrated and cooling off though...We go to Disney quite a bit, so no need to rush around and do everything in a couple of hours.

I am doing it with my just turned 3 yo dd in July! We have talked about it a lot and she is soooo excited! She is really into the Princess's (we have to watch a Princess DVD every day, sometimes 2-3 times and have watched the planning DVD a million times)! I have bought her costume which we will take, but I will take a change of clothes if she wants to take it off!
