Baylake 2 Bedroom Question

Hi All,

My understanding is that Baylake offers both "standard" 2 BR units as well as a 1 BR + Studio lock-off. For our next stay, assuming we have an option, I'm going back and forth on which one is better for our group.

My immediate family will fully use the 1 BR portion (Master + Living Room) and will pretty much fill the entire space, fridge, etc. with our stuff. My parents, who can have late hours at times, will be in the other portion. They also need a close fridge space for medication (they have limited mobility as well).

The standard setup offers 2 true queen beds, which is a plus for them due to their sleeping situation. However, the studio setup offers the kitchenette (extra fridge) and their own hallway door.

What are other pros/cons am I forgetting? Is the SQFT the same in both setups? Anyone know if Disney will deliver a mini fridge if requested for medical reasons?

Thank you!

If you are booking with DVC points, lock-off or dedicated are booking categories for BLT. However, if you are booking cash via Disney, you are only able to book size and view, and are assigned into either a lock-off or dedicated based on what is available at time of assignment. Disney own only 2% of BLT for cash booking; additional rooms are sometimes released from DVC (the timeshare side) to Disney based on factors relating to timeshare ownership use of points.

Disney will not bring a mini-fridge to a DVC room on request, to the best of my knowledge. It increases wear-and-tear on the room.

The 1 and 2 bedroom DVC units have full kitchens, so you should have plenty of fridge room. If you aren't already a DVC member, you'll probably need to rent points and book at the 11 month mark to secure your reservation.

We are staying via DVC points. If we have the option, which one does everyone think is the better setup?

If you want your parents to have the mini-fridge, the lock-off. They can unfold the sofa bed if they need two sleep surfaces.

How does the queen pullout compare to an actual queen bed comfort wise?

Also, anyone know the SQFT difference between the two layouts?

The square footage difference is variable depending on where in the BLT curve you are and is less dependent on dedicated vs LO.

If you get the lockoff, the second bedroom will have a queen bed and double sleeper sofa. The one bedroom portion will have the king bed in the bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair in the living room. If you get a dedicated two bedroom, you'll have two queen beds in the second bedroom.

Square footage will also depend on whether you are inside the C or outside the C. Inside the C, you get a large laundry room, but smaller kitchen. Outside the C, you get more kitchen space, but only a laundry closet. The studio/second bedroom will be about the same size no matter what. And it is small. But for two adults, it should be okay. If they have scooters or wheelchairs, it will be extremely tight and you might need to store them in the living room.
