Bay Lake Tower to islands of Adventure

DS & I are staying at BLT in a few weeks. He wants to meet up with some friends at islands of Adventure for a day. His friends are on a school trip - and he's meeting up with them in the Disney Parks too. Anyway, about how long will it take to drive him from BLT to Island of Adventure? I may stay the day at IoA or I may head back to the resort for a relaxing day and pick him up at the end of the night. Just not sure about the logistics of taking him & picking him up. The past few times we've been to Universal, we've stayed at the Royal Pacific & walked to the parks. I'm just needing advice about parking & picking him up.

20 to 25 minutes if I remember correctly from a couple years ago when we stayed at VWL while I had a conference at Universal. Some of that might have involved parking for me though.
