My friend recently went through a divorce, and now she wants to sell her BLT points. She asked me if I wanted to, so I discussed it with hubby and he said "whatever you want." I want to know if you think it would be worth it. All 5 of us absolutely love BLT. Our home resort is WL. So we are DVC members. Tell me what you think.

I'd post this on the DVC board. Plus there can you can look at what price recent BLT contracts have passed ROFR.

It's entirely up to you and your family. The selling and buying process is almost the same other than if you bypass the Broker, she doesn't pay a commission. You still need to agree on terms, a price, a sales contract and pass ROFR.

I would say go for it. Last time we bought more points we considered BLT because, even though the points were more expensive than AKL, the long term cost was lower since dues are less per point. But, we got drawn in by a great special that gave us basically a free week on developer points, so we took AKL. We love it, but BLT is cheaper in the long run, AND, BLT is hard to get into. Really wish we had 11 month booking. I call at 9am when the 7 month window opens up, calling for the slowest time of the year, and can barely find a room for the length of time I want. All the owners of BLT get in first...

I agree with vacationclub, BLT is great to have for the 11 month booking window. Those Theme Park views are sometimes hard to come by. Good luck with whatever you decide.

We bought at BLT because we love the location and knew we wanted to be able to book those SV rooms to conserve points when needed to.

BLT is currently selling for $90-100 per point on the resale market, depending on how many points you are buying. You may want to check out this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2661661&page=88

After reviewing that thread, decide what you are willing to spend per point and the you will know if it is a good deal for you. Your friend may be financing through DVC, so she knows what she owes and what she is willing to sell the contract for. If it ends up being more than $100/pt, you would be better off looking at the resale market. If she want to give you a "really great deal" on the contract, you may run the risk of losing it to Disney on the ROFR.

I agree with others, having the 11 month advantage is important for MK view. We were able to get a studio-LV on a wait list for next month, so I don't think the 7 month window is absolutely impossible, and, in fact, most times of the year I think that LV rooms are readily available.
