So I wasn't thinking when we booked our stayed via DVC at Bay Lake Tower about the nightly fireworks at MK and having a 4 yo who is terrified of thunder. How bad is the boom? Any recomm. about specific rooms to request to be as far away as possible? Morning noise is fine. Should we consider switching resorts? If so, animal kingdom? I'm open to any info you can share. TIA!

DH and I have stayed there twice- I don't think it's very loud at all. I think you'll be fine.
Just don't sit on the balcony to watch them....

We have stayed at BLT several times and honestly with the doors closed we really couldn't hear them. If you have a LV room you might want an odd numbered room as those are on the back side of the resort.

You're definitely going to hear them but if you keep your door closed it will be muffled. The great thing about Disney fireworks is that they don't have those extraneous really loud booms. They want you to hear the music and the narration so they are not like your typical 4th of July fireworks in your town.

We stayed in MK view 1 Bedroom a few months ago for one night and as long as we were inside with the balcony doors closed, the fireworks noise wasn't too bad. It sounded kind of like distant thunder. If your 4 yo is REALLY scared of thunder, I would request a room on the backside of the resort, but I don't think you would need to change resorts.

Several nights into our 11 day stay MK view at BLT, our kids were asleep by 10 and the fireworks didn't wake them. They were exhausted, but with the door and curtains closed, the fireworks aren't really that loud.

We stayed at the CR, so a little further away but DD is terrified of fireworks and it was very muffled and fine when the door was closed. We just closed the curtains so she didn't know what was going on and everything was fine.

Not an issue. We've had theme park view villas as well as a lake view villa (that one had a wonderful side view of the fireworks!!). The sound was never an issue. Even when up on the observation area, outside the Top of the World lounge, the sound from the fireworks wasn't all that loud. If you are in the room, with the door closed and the drapes pulled, you will probably barely notice the fireworks.
In fact, it might be a really good way for your child to get used to fireworks. Just keep the doors closed and watch through the glass!!!

Disney uses the new technology air cannons, so the sounds are not like the old fireworks we are used to. In fact, my town had fireworks last night after a 10 year absence and I noticed the muffled air cannon sounds.
Like others have posted, close the balcony door and the drapes.

We just came back. Our room was on the 5th floor, on the side facing Contemporary and Bay Lake. We could hear them somewhat in the distance but nothing loud. And it never woke up the kids (9 and 7). If you really want to be safe, I'd ask for a room facing the courtyard / pool area. The sound there would be even less noticeable I think. Hope this helps.
