hi disboards family. Trying to check in online for our stay at baylake...they are asking if we prefer a room near the skyway bridge, near the elevator, upper floor, etc.

This is our first time there. Any preferences I should pick? It'll be 4 of us...me, dh, and 2 teenage dss.

Thanx! :flower:

If you're serious about a room request, make it directly through member services and ask they put it on your reservation. I'm not sure they even use the online check-in requests for DVC. Also, depending on what room category you have (standard, lake, theme park view) they may not be able to align to room requests.

We always ask for an even room number as we like the outside of the C vs. an inside room. Our requests are typically: 1) Even room # 2) high floor.

That's a bit like asking "what color car should I buy?" What category did you book? What size room? What's important to you? View? Location? Will you be walking to the Magic Kingdom, or catching the monorail most of the time?

2 bdrm, lake view. Maybe w/those category, we don't get a choice? I was just wondering...b/c I've never had to think about it. We are very "whatever comes our way" kinda family. Views aren't really that important...as long as we are there...type family.

I was just wondering what others thought...since I'm totally new to this..

Maybe I will just go w/whatever we get when we get to the resort...

But thank you for taking the time! :flower:

We're the same way. I do click choices during online checkin--I consider it a 'passive' request. We've gotten some of our choices being DVC. The time we stayed at BCV the person checking us in said, 'your room is on an upper floor and has a larger balcony like you requested.' At BWV, when we had pool/garden view studios we've requested near elevator/upper floor a couple of times as there is only 1 elevator and we ended up in dedicated studios not too far from the elevator.

BLT looks like it has 2 elevators, so that's not going to help you much. Skywalk is on the 5th floor. So depending on what is important to you--pick either skywalk or upper floor.

Thank you! Yes...I'm just happy being there! The location preference is a perk...and if we put in a preference, and end up w/the request, it'll be an added bonus! :flower:

IMO, you'll be happy with any room/location as there is no big perk to any one 2 bdrm lake view room over another. We've had several and nothing has ever stood out that made a difference. Personally I might request a higher floor so you can get a more open view, as opposed to overlooking the pool/courtyard more than the lake on the lower floors. We never bother to request anything specific when we stay. Have a great trip!

Request even number room, north side. You'll get a partial MK view above the tennis courts to the left and the lake to the right. I made my request through member services and got it!

We often ask for an even number room, high floor and sometimes will ask for the northend high floor, even number room hoping to get one of few lake views with a view of MK. Many of even number lake rooms are on the outside of the building and face either the marina or MK, both of which are extra nice views IMO. Whatever you do I would ask for high floor. To me BLT is not that large to worry about being close to an elevator as it does not have the long hallways like BWV or either AKV resort.

For our BLT stay in a lake view, I requested high floor, even number and got the exact opposite. I made a stink face when I got the text with the room number - ended up on the 5th floor, odd number. However, it turned out to be perfect. The skywalk was so convenient to us, as it was right there, and I loved being able to sit out on the balcony and watch DH and the kids at the pool. I think next time I will not request anything and go with the luck of the draw. I enjoyed being pleasantly surprised last time.

There is a thread that shows pictures of BLT rooms with their views and the room #'s available in each booking category (Standard/LV/MK):

Requesting specific room #'s is not usually advisable (better to put in a more general request for a high floor, north facing, etc.) but this gives you a good idea of what is available in each booking category. We bought at BLT and will be staying there for the first time this fall. We booked lake view hoping for a partial MK view but even if it's just a view of the lake I'll be very happy with a waterfront view! Enjoy your stay!
