Thought I would share my good news today.
I priced up a holiday for my little brother with Travelrepublic for £2740 travelling on the 7/8/10. 3xadults, 2 rooms, 3xflights, 3xluggage allowance and no transfers including in the price .
I went to the small Thomas cook shop in our town(we have 2) to see if they can price match the above price. Gave the travel agent the details and she reconfirmed details with us again, she then goes searching on her PC, ooh she says I think I can better your price, I'll just print the details off for you. Then she has a whisper with her colleague, and nod of the head she comes back they can do it for £2648, I thought excellent this can be booked today. When I recapped the information again with her, she says the price is booked for 3 adults and 1 room instead of 2, charged me £30 each for luggage&flights x 3. I said no to her offer thats not what my price was based on, and she wrote down the details so why was she changing it. I'm terribly sorry I did'nt check the details she says
. (have I just spent the last 10 mins talking to myself) She tried looking at other offers but could'nt find anything for my travelrepublic price and said the best she could do it for was £3442
no thank you madam and we left the shop.

This time a male travel agent, spent 10 mins waiting for him to come back from the back office. Would you like to sit over here excuse the mess its my admin for today, are you sure I said it looks like 2 weeks worth to me, he laughs good start I think.
So told him my requirements and a copy of the internet price we were trying to match. He starts searching first thing he says can't see anything less than £4150, well thats out of the question. So he starts searching again and again, and kept saying I don't see how they can get this price base on your requirments. He phones about 3 different people to get advice about the price, he goes into several travel companys on his PC still could'nt match it. So he asks me for the travelrepublic website and proceeds to do a search, once on the website, I had to direct him through to the price I got (i get the feeling he thinks I made the price up) result my price comes up and he can't believe it. best price he offered £3965
- no thank you there's a credit crunch, we say our goodbyes and leave the shop.

Shop extremely busy all travel agents with customers. Did'nt stand waiting we were ushered in by the branch manager. She took our details and the internet price and said she will do her best to get us a good price. (I like this lady she saying all the good things i like to hear).
First thing she on the phone to Jetsave to check their prices, they want £3995 - sorry i say thats out of the question. She gets back on the phone with jetsave and asked them whats the best they can do today answer is £3795- said again thats out of the question its too much were on a budget. The lady at Jetsave says hang on she will check again if we can be flexible with the date ok i said can she look.
Jetsave agent comes back with if we can travel on 28/8/10 she can do it for £3196, thomas cook says is this the best offer, Jetsave lady says let me speak to my manager, she comes back with final offer of £2995. I said mmm let me think, the thomas cook manager says if we go on the 28/8/10 she will discount the holiday to £2700.00, result
said thankyou and accepted the price.
So my brother has save £496 on the jetsave price of £3196 by changing the date(1st time i've ever haggled) and save £40 off our original internet price £2740 for the 7/8/10 with travelrepublic.
He has a holiday of a lifetime in Orlando with his 2 children which cost him £2700 with a breakdown of 3 adults, 2 rooms, 3 flights and 3 transfers and no luggage allowance to pay.
