I know my iphone will not make it all day in the parks without some type of battery back up. Anyone have any good external battery that they'd recommend? I know I don't want a battery case, because I have my phone in an otterbox defender and so it doesn't break it's staying in there...lol.

I have this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Power...LVIK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334594725&sr=8-2

It will connect with an Otterbox Defender case using my 4S. I don't know how long it actually adds to the charge (I just got it and haven't used it), but there is another version that just comes with the wall charger for under $20, so if you have to use two to make it through the day, it is still cheaper than a lot of other options.

The Otterbox is a problem. Most chargers do not have a connector long enough to plug-in due to the extra distance the Otterbox creates. I have to take my Otterbox off and use a slimmer case to use my external battery charger for golf or Disney.

Now I'm offering unsolicited advice, but have you changed your settings to save on the battery? You can google it. There are lots of settings which you probably don't need turned on. In particular, go to SETTINGS, then LOCATION SERVICES, then scroll all the way down to SYSTEM SERVICES. Many people turn a lot of those off.

Actually, I turned off all location services. I know where I am and I know where I'm going. I don't need Siri to tell me where the nearest coffee shop is located.

I also turned off all push notifications.

You might want to change your settings for your trip, even if you put them back to normal when you get home.

Or you might know all of this, and wish I would keep my mouth shut.

I have a portable recharger that I ordered off of eBay. It's made by 'The Sharper Image' and comes with all different attachments for different electronics. It works fine with my iPhone.

I have a Mophie Powerstation. It will charge anything that uses a USB charger (even tablets that take a 10w charge) and the standard iPhone cable will connect it without having to take your Otterbox off.

Someone mentioned on the Theme Parks board that the Disney Mobile Magic app won't work in the parks if location services are turned off. Just something to consider if you plan on using that app.

You're right.

However, with the phone I had (before I got an iPhone), the Disney Mobile Magic app didn't work well even when location services was turned on.

I found that the Undercover Tourist app and the WDW Lines (Unofficial Guide) app worked much better. You don't need location services to use them. I'm home, and I can tell you that the line for Dumbo is 20 minutes long now using the Undercover Tourist app.

I use and highly recommend the New Trent IMP99D charger. You can charge 2 iDevices (or other Smart Phones) at a time and it works with iPad too. It charges a single iPhone for at least 4 cycles without needing a recharge. It's not too heavy and I think it's priced right. I can only say good things.

^^That^^

You can also turn off Bluetooth and Wifi, to conserve battery life. Also, change your email settings so it only checks for new ones once per hour instead of more frequently.

Sorry, no recommendations on a charger. :)
