Batteries in Carry On

Quick and probably stupid question. Are extra AA batteries allowed in your carry on? My daughters CD player and game systems go thru alot of batteries. We are leaving tomorrow and I can not remember.

Yes, but put them somewhere that is easily accessible. I've heard anecdotally that AAA's packaged in long bars, especially, can look like bullets to the x-ray, and if so will trigger a bag search. It helps if they are right on top where they can be easily seen.

There have been very recent reports on another web site that ALL electronics must come out of carryons and be screened separately. While I can't vouch for the accuract of this, I will be packing so I am prepared for it.

I still only need to take out my laptop. DVD players must also come out. Ipods etc don't.

Even now, after many years flying, I still put all my electonics in one large ziploc baggie. The video camera goes through on it's own, but my cell phone, charger, camera/batteries, Ipod, port DVD player, they all go into the big, oversized ziploc bag. Then, once through security, I give it all to whomever it belongs to.
I know we don't 'have' to keep that stuff apart, but it just makes me feel better and several of the scanners have thanked me. So, I continue to take the time.
The other thing that people tend to forget in their carryon bag? Rolls of coins! I had a roll of quarters that got stuck in a fold in my bag, we had to dump everything out. So mortifying. I'll never make that mistake again. Rolls of coins go in that big ziploc.

I read over there. But I also know my own personal experience. Everyone's is different.

I travel with two ipods, a portable hard drive, and a lot of work electronics in my carryon. So far only my laptop has come out of the bag.
