Batman: The Dark Knight

:confused3
Is Nicholson implying that the movie killed Heath and not the drugs? Well, it was the drugs... but I guess the movie led him to the perscription drugs or something?

He was taking half the drugs because of all the anxiety the joker caused him.

I agree with you about people just going to see Johnny not batman but in truth I went to batman for Heath....

And as for the Nicholson comment I think he knew that the role was awful and demanding, and I also heard that while filming Heath got 2 hours of sleep and that is all. I think the role drove him over the edge. CREEPY.... If I recall I think the drugs were sleeping pills, why was he at Mary Kate's house, I read he was getting a divorce.... Depression that role I don't know...:confused3

I saw it because Christopher Nolan is amazing. He was never married to Michelle

I wouldn't want to comment on Heath and I wish we sticked to the movie, but I am tempted..

1. He was never married, just engaged. It has been widely reported he was missing his baby girl very much, because he didn't get to spend the holidays with her.

2. He died in his appartment.

3. He had different kinds of perscribed pills in his system for various problems.

I don't know to what extend the role affected him, but I can recall reading that Michael Caine said that people wanted to view it that way, but that it was not true.

The saddest part is that his death truly was preventable and an amazing talent and young father was gone too soon, with no reason.

I don't think so either, I think it would be rude to Heath Ledger. Let it be, I think that is why he declined that.
A little off track but did any one else hear that Jack Nicholson (Origional Joker) warned Heath against the role. Apparently when Jack heard that he died he said "I warned him."

He did it against drugs though. It was believed one of the drugs mixed that Heath died of was Ambien, and Jack said "I warned him, I warned him of that ambien!".

Personally, I've been taking Ambien for 3 months now, and the worst that has happened is wacky dreams/nightmares.

I apologize for straying from the topic, it's just that he was such an amazing person, and I wanted to know if all that bologna I hear is true. God, I wish they didn't go so young. Like Chris Farley, River Pheonix, James Dean. Especially Heath though all by accident, his poor child, it just makes me cry at what a loss he truly was.:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

a few things

1) i will barf my lungs out if JOHNNY FRIGGING DEPP takes over the role.
(though that would NEVER happen, because i really don't think chris nolan would let it.)

2) (and i'm not saying this to anyone on this board or anyone in particular) but i get SO annoyed when peopel talk about Ledgers death. They DONT know the facts, they assume silly things (i heard someone coming out of the movie saying 'how stupid was he to kill himself!'--makes me sick)

anyways i don't want this thread to be about his death, but the amazing movie that he was a part of...so hopefully we can stray away from that topic before i become really sad.

but ummm...does anyone else think that Christian Bale is INCREDIBLY INCREDIBLY hot?!?
i've had this thing for him ever since I saw American Psycho (i know, that movie should NOT make me fall in love with him, but it really did lol) and like in EVER movie he's in he is SO flippin gorgeous. Even the Machinist where he weights like 130lbs! Or Rescue Dawn where he is covered in dirt and becomes (once again) extremely skinny and scraggly looking.
Whenever he was on screen as Bruce Wayne though, I was just like :scared1: HOLY MOTHA!!!

rotfl jamie!!I was tempted to smackk a fool!

okay, back on topic....im DYING to know what everyones favourite scene was.
(so people who haven't seen it i wouldnt read on!! lol)

my favourite scene is when the joker is in the questioning room in jail.
PURE FREAKING BRILLIANCE!!!!
The ENTIRE scene was just amazing and totally captivating. from beginning until end (which i'm counting as when batman leaves to go save 'rachel') is just...i can't even describe. SO INTENSE and amazing!!!

When the jokers talking to Commisioner (sp?) Gordon...SO menacing and crazy!!!! "Me?? I was here the whole time...who did YOU leave him with?"
ANd when batman firsts attacks him "never start with the head, the victim gets all...fuzzy!"

BRILLIANCE!!

What were your fave scenes?

Uhm the one with the bazooka. XD

" No, he'll need something much bigger to get through here"
"Driver: IS THAT A BAZOOKA?"

And i love the entire truck/batpod/ harvey dent transporting (elongation of bazooka scene) one. Mostly because I cheer when "YOU KNOW WHO" comes back.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, yes.
He is quite fine.

Me too! I just went and saw it!
Man, it was so brilliant! It could easily be called the best movie of this century:lmao:
But really, Heath Ledger played the Joker wonderfully, at least his last role was a great one.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh.
I loved that part.

And the whole, "Can I get my phone call?"
And, "I just want my phone call."
I was dying of laughter.
Everyone in the theater was looking at me like I was demented.

And I liked when he was simply walking down the street in the nurse outfit.
That made me laugh too.
And, once again, I got strange looks from people.

Not for once did I want the topic to stray for the movie but I was tempted to state some facts as they were reported, since there was some confusion. Anyone is welcome to do a search on his/her own and clear things up instead of us discussing it on this thread.

And I totally get what you are saying about people. There is a lot of misconception surrounding what happened, and it was sad listening to people gossiping in the theater!:sad2: I mean come on, you're here to watch a movie, stick to the action and the breathtaking performances!:sad1:

As for Christian Bale..HOLY BATMAN!:rotfl:

SPOILERS AHEAD! (in the slight chance you haven't seen the movie!)

popcorn::

Favourite scenes:

-When Dent sentences all the bad guys in the court room
-When Dent and Rachel go to the ballet theater..only to find that Bruce took the dancers on a cruise!:rotfl:
-The 'I just want my phone call' scene (the entire theater was laughing out loud at that)
-The Joker fiddling with the detonator outside the hospital, after visiting Dent
-The epilogue..

I loved the Joker crashing the party, "We are tonight's entertainment!" I thought that was so funny. And "H--ello BEAUTIFUL." Just brilliant. And the part where the Joker said "he missed" and the entire truck flips over. PLus the end scene with him and batman and he says "we are destined to do this forever." and i can't kill you because you are to fun ;) loved it!
