Hello fellow DISers!

Just a quick question for all of you experienced parents who have travelled to WDW with a young infant...

What did you use to bathe your infant? The "big" bathtub would be too big... Did you just shower with your child? Or bring your baby bathtub?

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Thanks so much!

I haven't been to WDW with my kids when they were that little, but we did go away, and I never brought my baby tub. I either sat in the tub and had the baby on my lap, my knees up, facing me and bathed them that way, or would lay a towel in the tub, run an inch or so of warm water and lay the baby on the towel in the tub and bathe that way. I think my DD who's now 7 was sitting up at 5 mos......(she sat early, walked early, but took forever to talk!...now I can't keep her quiet.....) If yours is an early sitter, sitting on a towel in the back corner of the tub would work too.

Whether we were at Disney or not DD always just showered with us...usually I would shower with her first hand her off to DH while I finished and he would dress her. There were a few months when it was easier to bath her by herself, from 11-13 months because she was to big to hold but not sure footed enought to stand in a tub. As she has gotten older we never had to deal with a fear of the shower like my DSIL....I am not sure if my DNeice(6) takes showers yet?

I always bathed my son in the tub with me. Found it so much easier then the baby one, perfect for vacations and the no worry of falling over in big tub. I would get in then have hubby hand me my son, he would also take him and dry and dress him. That way I wasn't handling a baby being wet and slippery! Laid him on my knees as previous poster suggested.

When we've taken DD on vacations I have either 1) showered with her and handed her odd to DH, or most frequently 2) sat in the tub with her and bathed her this way. Bringing a baby tub would ahve been another cumbersome item to travel with. On our next trip DD will probably sit by herself in the tub as this is becoming the ritual nowadays.

I would bath the baby on your lap. If you don't want to do that they do make blow up tubs at Babies-R-us.

Either showed or bathed with them. Normally bath because they can be slipper buggers when wet and soapy!

I have heard of some people bringing the blow up tubs that go inside the normal tub and that works well for them. Still at 5 months I think holding them on my lap in the tub is easier.

Have a great time. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for the replies! Either in the tub with me or in the shower it is! LOL

(We actually shower with him right now MUCH more frequently than bathe him in his baby tub so it shouldn't be a big deal...)

We bought an inflatable baby tub at Target for about $5 to take on a cruise when DD was around 9 months old. It worked great and I still take it with on vacations, but at 5 months your little one probably won't be sitting up yet.

DS was 5 months on our winter trip last year to WDW. We brought our inflatable bath tub for him. He was sitting up at 4 months.

We would bath together in the tub but I have used the mesh ramp thing (can't think of the name) that had a lip at the bottom that I would take with me on trips- great for a little wiggler.

I go to either Walmart or ToysRUs and get one of those yellow bath bears. Our toddler still won't sit his bare bottom on the tub mat, he wants to sit on a bath bear. I just wring it out afterwards to let it dry, then throw away at the end of our stay. For his bath bear at home, I throw it in the washer once a week.

Personally, I've used the inflatable tubs and think they are great - but, I have a very savvy girlfriend that did something I never would have thought of!

Her DD was six months old when they went and stayed at SSR, and they usually showered with her. Well, during the vacation her DD decided she didn't like the shower anymore, she'd just scream while she was in there. They didn't have anything to bathe her in so they used . . . the drainboard for the dishes. They folded up a towel to put in the bottom so it wasn't rough, put it in the sink, water would go through the sides and the baby LOVED it.

Don't know if you're staying in a room with a kitchen, but I just thought I'd share!

When my kids were to small for the bath tub I used the Bathroom sink then the kitchen sink. I had 10 kids and never bought a kids bath. Fill up sink hold baby like a football (ie breastfeeding hold) under your arm wash baby hair first then put in baby and wash rest. U will be done in about 5 min and have a towel layed out next to sink on vanity to dry all done. Now to dress.

Good luck.

That's what I did with my kids both travelling and at home. After the first few weeks with our oldest, I gave up on the baby tub--too cumbersome and awkward for me. Most of the time I put a towel on the floor of the tub and filled it very shallow with warm water and lay the baby on the towel. They loved to be able to stretch their arms and legs out and not hit anything. Of course, oldest DS decided to roll over for the first time while in the bathtub! I was right there, no harm done, but the look of shock on his face was priceless!

Our DD's have been taking showers since they were 5 weeks old (well as soon as the cord stump came off so it was right around this time or earlier).. :) You cannot even turn the shower on in our house and they all come running including the dog. (Before we had the kids DH used to put our 70 lb. dalmation in the shower with him as well)... :rotfl2: (WHAT A LOVING FAMILY WE HAVE) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Don't the babies get slippery in the shower? :)

We had an inflatable tub that we used all the time at home and on trips. DS loved it!! Ours had a suction cup so you could hang it on the wall to dry. It was a gift, but I think it was a Cuddle Tub.

We bathed her in the bathroom sink. It was the perfect size for her as she was only about 10 - 11lbs at 5 months old when we were in Disney.

If that didn't work out, I would have just gotten in the tub with her. That would have been just fine.

One thing I woudl definitely suggest is taking the Huggies bath cloths that already have the soap in them and sudds up when wet. Those were great and you just throw them out. No need to deal with a lot of tubes and bottles.
