Bathroom Vanities

We're redoing our master bath and would like to get a new vanity without breaking the bank.

I've seen some combo sets that have the vanity/counter/sink for about $1000 at Home Depot, Lowes, on Amazon, etc. How are these? I've read reviews but am wary of buying something so expensive without seeing in person. And we'll have to live with it for a loooong time. Plus, they weigh about 300 pounds so it's not like it would be easy to return if we weren't satisfied with it.

Could anyone share their experience - either with buying a combo or with getting base/counter/sinks separately?

Thanks!

We have done a ton of refurb/new building.

In our experience yes you want to see it before you buy. Not only the demo but the actual item. Always open the box at the store (lowes/home depot etc). We have had too many items come in boxes that looked fine but inside were broken.

I don't know if I would buy sight unseen online. It would depend on the item and brand etc. But I am picky about color and sturdiness. Both things are hard to do with a photo.

We also have bought on craigslist and at discount stores that specialize in odd home building items on sale. But once again we see it first.

I cannot say one way or another about the whole set vs buying the sink/counter/vanity in parts. We have never had a problem with fit buying individually. Both ways have their uses. Any decisions about this kind of thing for us are made more based on needs for the particular sink. We renovated a rental and just bought a set for convenience. But when we renovated our home bathroom I wanted a sink that could fit more then just my hands in there. Lets say I wanted to hand wash some clothing or something. So we bought pieces and put them together.

We are about to put our house on the market, so we literally just finished redoing our bathroom yesterday! We bought a new cabinet/vanity combo, a medicine cabinet/mirror, and a cabinet with towel rack for above the toilet. WE LOVE our vanity! We spent a total of $400 on everything, and it looks like an entirely new bathroom. I wish we would've done it sooner.

To be honest, as I have learned in my remodel, $1,000 isn't a whole lot of money for a bathroom vanity. We went with a $2,100 Strasser vanity, $125 sink, $125 cultured marble countertop and $200 faucet.
The vanities run alone can run up to $7,500.

Thanks for the responses so far.

To clarify, $1000 isn't necessarily our budget - we don't really have one just want to do the project relatively reasonably. We haven't remodeled a bathroom before so we're exploring options.

Would love to hear the pros and cons of any approach. I had considered getting Ikea kitchen height cabinets and quartz countertops, but pricing them out it looks like they would cost a fair bit more than the combo sets. But maybe worth it?

I do know that we are interested in a white vanity with carrera marble countertop or similar look with quartz/corian, etc. The $1000 combos seem too good to be true, honestly, so getting opinions.

Thanks again!

Interested in replies as well. We're going to remodel our guest bath and have just started looking at vanity options. Currently it's a beige marble top with integrated sink on a crappy wood (I swear it's fiberboard) cabinet. Two owners before us remodeled it on the cheap. I hate it and we've lived with it long enough.

Good god, we didn't spend that much on 2 bathrooms replacing everything (toilet, shower, floor, fixtures, vanities, sink, etc)(including labor).

Costco can be a good option, even if you order online, you can return at the store. And if it does not hold up, you can later return with them, they stand behind their product.

We re-did 2 full baths, and 1 powder room. We were not going for fancy, just basic, clean, useful.

We ended up getting 2 vanities at Home Depot. We did not want to move ANY plumbing, except fitting in the drains/sink traps, so we had to work around that choice. (DH insisted on this! lol) In one bathroom, we kept the vanity and just painted it, and replaced the vanity sink top. In another, we got a fairly cheap vanity to pair with a new gray marble top (it looks like Corian, not shiny). And in the powder room, I got a Kraftmaid from HD, thinking it would take the most abuse/use.

I looked on Overstock.com, but was concerned about the cost to return a vanity, if that became necessary.

Warning, order your vanity WAY in advance, we had a few come in damaged, and even worse were the 2 double vanity tops, several were damaged (those were from Lowes). So order your stuff ahead of time, and just hang onto it until you are ready..

Sorry in advance...
you are asking for someone to say yes or no this is good quality for something online that costs X.......
You need to go look at them period..... There is good quality for 500 and crap for 2,000 no one knows without seeing...
a custom made cabinet will be expensive but maybe not made well and mass produced cabinet may be cheap but made well... look for plywood stay away from Ikea... it is a bathroom something will leak if it is not plywood and gets wet you will likely need to replace it....
Lowes I think has a much more extensive selection than HD as they have custom order ones on display so you can compare the quality and what you like.... names do not matter
I have a Kohler Pedestal sink that was an upper line one still being sold.... made to remind you of the older style sinks with a modern touch.... it now reminds me of an older sink as it has cracks like one (hairline under the glaze so it does not cause leaks) this was after maybe 5 years... I paid well over 500for this 8 years ago and it was a promotion price today as well as a discount for buying the matching toilet which was also over 500 you can expect to pay maybe 800-1000 for the sink now.... cracks or character as per Kohler will come way after the 1 year warranty... read the exclusions if the great warranties....
Moen..... if you are handy buy one as well as the tool to replace the valve's see amazon or Ebay for a good price... they will replace the valves for free if you register the product or save the receipt and you will be replacing the valves every 3-4 years... PF they charge 7.99 shipping for the valves -- have your credit card handy sir... you said it was free? yes but we charge for shipping and processing :lmao: but those valves will last a lot longer.... buy delta no problems.... hope that helps in your search...

We bought our wall mounted vanity online at all modern.com
I LOVE it. It was packaged so well there was no damage and
We received it in about a week. There are so many choices online
Just check their policies. We are very happy. Good luck, we just
Finished renovating (3) bathrooms.

We redid our bathroom last summer. The vanity I loved was only available online, so I couldn't see it in person. I ordered it from Home Depot because I could return it to the store if I didn't like it or if it was damaged in transit.

It arrived in great condition and I love it!
