Hi everybody,

I know I should be paying attention to my trip report, but this has begun to bother me.

I am the DS16. My DF promised me that next year we could stay at BWV. We're going to go next year in July, so I want to start the planning process now. We're not DVC members btw.

What I have to tell my DF is that I want to bring a friend along on our trip next year. Now, DM already signed off on the idea, and I think DF will probably say yes. My friend's parents probably will too. So what I've been thinking of is how we'd all fit in a studio. That's basically impossible.

So I thought a 1 bedroom villa would be nice , for more space and more privacy for my friend and me. But, here's my question: how many bathrooms are in a 1 bedroom villa at BWV? If there's only 1 bathroom, we're going to have an issue - it'll be very cramped.

Should I try to get DF to spring for a 2 bedroom? That must have 2 bathrooms :lmao:. What would you all do?

Plus, how much would you guys expect a normal price range would be to rent points from someone? For a full week in July 2012, what would be a good price range or a maximum be to rent?

Thanks everybody,

Kevin

P.S. Sorry for the long post and if this is in the wrong forum.

You can use the points calculator on this board and figure out how many points it would take for the week you are interested in. Then you can figure the cost to rent such a reservation by multiplying the number of points by $10 and $13. The first number will give you what is probably the low number and the second the high end to get this reservation.

Yes a 2 BR will have 2 bathrooms. The 1 BR villas at BLT and AKV Kidani also have 2 bathrooms.

OK, thank you. What do you think our chances are of getting the BWV if we book it this August?

First, this is a very mature post for a 16 y/o, you should be commended. Second, you're already obsessing about planning Disney trips, you should fit in well here. I don't think there's any way you can feasibly do a studio for the 4 of you with 2 older teens. Your best bets will be an OKW 2 BR if you'll have a car and if not, AKV Kidani standard 1 BR so you get 2 baths. Any 1 BR will work though if the 2 of you don't mind sharing a pullout. The prices are as noted, roughly double what the studio would have been though you'll pick up some extras like the full kitchen and W/D.

OK, thank you. What do you think our chances are of getting the BWV if we book it this August?
Almost guaranteed and there is a chance you could get standard view for that time.

We were able to get BWV this summer for August in a 2 bedroom at the 7 month mark--even got BW view!!

In 2009, we had no problem getting a BW studio around the 4 month mark for August.

So, I think you will have a good shot of getting BWV during your travel time.

I don't think there's any way you can feasibly do a studio for the 4 of you with 2 older teens. Your best bets will be an OKW 2 BR if you'll have a car and if not, AKV Kidani value 1 BR so you get 2 baths. Any 1 BR will work though if the 2 of you don't mind sharing a pullout. But some one bedroom villas (BLT, OKW and non-Value AKV villas) will also have the twin sleeper chair in the living room. OKW is the largest of them all. But AKV (Kidani Village) and BLT will have the extra bathroom in the one bedroom. At OKW, you will have a separate tub room with a sink (that is open to the master bedroom) and the toilet, shower and sink in a separate room. And then there is the laundry room to help give you a little changing space.

Dean, no value 1 BR villas in Kidani Village. I think you meant Standard view (versus the savanna view).

Correct, I was thinking standard and wrote value, thanks for picking that up.

Excellent- be sure to read the info on the rent trade board so that you and your parents understand all the ins and outs of renting from a DIS member if this is the way you want to go. It will save you considerably over getting a reservation direct from Disney but you must understand the major differences that are involved. Good luck and hope you have a wonderful trip.

I'd start by talking to your parents about the budget. Your choice may come down to a one bathroom situation at the Boardwalk vs. a two bathroom situation offsite. Or you (and your parents) might need to give up something else in order to get a two bathroom situation - like dinners out - or hopping on your tickets. Find out what the budget is and how your parents are then intending on spending that budget - but the grownup thing to do is to understand the tradeoffs that you make and then negotiate and compromise to get to a situation that works well for everyone.

As far as suffering with one bathroom - when I was a kid we had six teenaged girls and four adults vacation every summer with one bathroom. It can be done. (And all six girls got four year college degrees paid for by their parents - our parents weren't really 'poor' - they just put their money towards college instead of multiple bathrooms on vacation). I'm not saying its the way I'd WANT to vacation, but find out what you are trading.

Why thank you! Obsessing about Disney trips is like my job lol. OKW would definitely be our second choice after BWV. AKV is out because DM doesn't want to be around animals. Sharing the couch, not so sure about that.

Standard view is what we were thinking anyways. We don't really care, as long as we're at the resort. :goodvibes

That's great to hear!

BLT would be our third option. Thanks for the info!

We weren't going to rent from anyone on here, probably from eBay like the last two times we rented points. Thanks though!

The money isn't really an issue. We'll be fine. DF is great at finding deals for airfare, and he scored major deals for BCV and SSR in 2009 and 2010. I'm sure he can do it again.

Also, I can't imagine having that many people in one bathroom. DF, DM, and I can barely share one at home!

Thanks for your input as well.
