bathing suit top repair

Has anyone had luck in repairing a bikini top? The strap broke that is by the chest area. If I stitch it multiple times in that spot will it hold up to wear again?
This is for my DD12.

I replaced a hook on a bikini once. I say it doesn't hurt to try. Stitch it back on and give it a few good tugs to make sure it will stay!
