Bath toys and mildew

How do you keep your kids bath toys from getting mildew? I have one of those suction nets in the corner to drain the water and they still have mildew!

keep them up and dry at other times- and spray with a bleach/water solution to kill the mildew,then rinse before he plays with them

I also have a net thing they hang in but still get slimy/yuck. I throw the toys and the bag onto the top rack of the dishwasher every so often, usually about once a week.

Wow - I just threw away a bunch of toys yesterday. I seriously have to go to all that trouble? Aye aye Captain!

I bleached all of our bath toys on Friday and dried them off throurourghly, I have a net thing but TBH I don't use it and just tend to place all the toys on the ledge of the bath to dry them out as the net just didn't work well for us.

My DD has many bath toys as well. I agree with cleaning them...my only issue that no one has seemed to mention or maybe they don't have toys with holes in them, are the ones that you can squirt water out of. My DD had many toys like this...a little sun, a whale, a fish, crab, etc. Will the dishwasher clean the inside of these toys?

Spraying the outside w/ bleach solution will clean the outside, but mildew gets on the inside too. I saw a news program one day and they talked about this very thing. In reference to the toys that can get water inside of them, they just said to throw them away and replace them.

Just wondering about the dishwasher and the inside of the toys....

The squirt ones never come clean so I try to avoid even getting them. We're into the ducks that light up now - no holes so less problems.

I bleach Jakc's toys like every cupole of weeks. Just get some Scrub free and spray them down in the tub while cleaning the tub and you good to go.
