Bath mat

Hi everyone. Though we are not headed home until the end of July, I wanted to ask this question before I forgot. When were on the Disney Magic last month, we found that the bathtub was slippery and DS (then 1 1/2) was sliding all over the place during his bath. We asked the room steward if they had any plastic/rubber bathmats. He said he didn't think so, but he'd check when he had a chance. Literally within 10 minutes there was a knock at the door, and the room steward had a rubber mat that he suction cupped to the tub.

My question is, are the tubs in the DVC rooms slippery? Are the tubs lined with friction tape, has anyone ever asked for a mat, etc? We'll roll up our own and bring it, if necessary, though we'd clearly like to just use something that's there. We will be at SSR, but I assume things will be similar there as the existing rooms.

I think they all have a non-skid surface...but that can get worn. If you are concerned, it wouldn't hurt to bring a small rubber bath mat. SSR, though, being a new resort probably has pretty good surfaces right now.

one of our guests staying in the second bedroom in the BWgrand villa last year had the same problem with slippery tub...we callled housekeeping and they brought up a bathmat with 10min.

In the BWV 1bdrm there are no bathmats. In fact, it's a big whirlpool tub. I practically have to get into the tub with my DD (under 2 years old) because she's always slipping and sliding around.

I've also stayed in BWV studios and VWL studios. They have a more standard-sized tub, so it's not as hard to keep the little ones from slipping around.

I never thought to ask for a bath mat. I'm going to try that on our next trip home!

We've always had bath mats when we've stayed in the boardwalk villas, no matter what size unit was. The bath mats were not the rubber type, though, but the terry cloth ones. We've not had a problem with the floors being slippery, but I suppose they certainly could be if they get wet.

OOOPS! Re read your post and I see you are talking about the kind of bathmats that go in the tub! Can sure see why you want one of those, especially with kids!

In the OKW 2 bedroom units, the big corner whirlpool would be difficult for bathing a small child because of the height of the sides. There is always a terry bath mat provided for each tub and the shower as well. I have not noticed any slippery surfaces, but we don't have little ones. I know the whirlpool would be a problem if you have a 1 bedroom with a small child.

I hadn't thought to ask for a rubber mat in the past, but may this time with sqirmy 2 yr old. I did have a problem last year though with the actual bathroom floor getting super slippery during DS's splashy bath in the whirlpool. In fact I wiped out when I hit a wet patch and slammed to the floor. Let me say I have definately learned my lesson to be super careful in there when tubbies and showers are in use. The tile gets like glare ice when wet.
