Today is June 1st and I think Bath and Body was supposed to be starting there sale of old signature products? Anybody been there yet? Anybody know if they have any of the old Freesia this time around? I sure loved that one! Haven't had time to get out there myself yet.

Sheer Freesia is on sale on line for $5!

I always wonder if the older stuff works just as well. I know soap is soap...but I wonder if it loses it's fragrance after a while? And when that happens..B&BW stuff is pricey to be just soap!!

I remember back in the days when their stuff had expiration dates on them. Not anymore. So it's hard to tell.

I read the subject line and thought "do people really want to smell older?";)

I got a mailer in the mail with a sale that said 75% off. I want to go, but haven't yet.

I didn't even know the semi-annual sale was starting today! Thanks!

My mom loves Sheer Freesia so I'll let her know. She also likes Juniper Breeze, and they should have that as well. Some of the much older scents that I like, such as Tangerine Spice, haven't shown up at the semi-annual sale in years. I made a killing on Ebay selling a bunch of Tangerine Spice that I bought for cheap at the semi-annual sale and then decided that I didn't want.

During their last two big sales, I've noticed that the fragrances aren't as potent as they used to be. :confused3 I used to buy tons of their glycerin soap whenever they had it on sale for $1. They didn't have the bars during their January sale. Before that, they must have changed something in the formula because the soap's scent was very weak. The colors also changed, much lighter than they used to be. I told one of the employees about this and she said that I wasn't the only one complaining about it.

I have a lot of their products in my bathroom closet that I still haven't used. I'm not eager to go to this current sale because I feel like I'll be wasting my money. I may buy some foam hand soap, but that will be it. I think they may have reduced the potency of scent in their products.:confused3 Maybe they're trying to save money in this economy.

The woman that worked there told me that as long as it remained sealed it, the scent would last 3 years. I had stocked up on my favorite fresh vanilla and wanted to know if I was just going to end up throwing it out after awhile. I got it last year so I can't say whether she was right or not.

I have noticed that, especially with the wallflowers. I remember a few years ago that even after I got used to the smell and wasn't smelling it as much..after I would walk in the house after being out all day, I would smell it again. Not so much with the new ones. Even though the wallflowers are super cheap now at $5, since they only work for a week, maybe two weeks, TOPS, it seems like a waste of money.

I agree, the pump hand soaps are the best value over there!! I love them!!!

The fragrances (well, in most forms, anyway) actually still do carry a sort of expiration date on them; it's just "in code" so it's not obvious that that's what it is. If you look on the bottom of, say, a lotion, you'll see that bottle's "born on" date, looking something like this: 6311G1B1. The 6 refers to 2006, and the 311 means that it was produced on the 311th day of that year. Not sure what the G1B1 means, but I believe it refers to the location of the plant or whatever where the product was made. Occasionally, they'll flip-flop the elements of the code so that the day of the year is listed first, but that's fairly rare and pretty easy to spot (like if you grab something off of the shelf in the store today and the number begins with a 2, it's all but a certainty that it was NOT made in 2002! )

As for the Classics, I certainly hope they'll actually have them in store this sale! At the last one (in Dec/Jan), they said that they were doing a trial-run of offering them online only, which almost totally defeats the purpose of the SAS for me, personally. Darn it, if I want to get me some Lemongrass Sage shower gel, I want to get it NOW, not in 3-5 days or whenever!

If any of you all are interested in what'll be coming up during the SAS, you might sign up for their emails. They usually do a pretty good job of posting the upcoming "featured" sales as the SAS moves along (the sales vary week by week throughout the month that the semi-annual sale actually runs). As if it weren't already obvious, I'm kind of a B&BW nerd, so I can post anything interesting i hear of, too.

Oh, and for anybody wanting to extend the life of products, make sure you keep them in a dark, cool place and out of direct sunlight when possible. That's how I store mine and the only product I've ever had to toss because it went bad was a bottle of May Bouquet bubble bath that I received ca. 1997. I tossed it last year. :upsidedow

Sheer Freesia not the same as Freesia. I got some Freesia at one of there half yearly sales a couple of years ago. It seemed fine to me, bought the shower gel and body spray. I was told by a fragrance rep. of a company one time that as long as you store them in a dark, dry, place..out of the sunlight, they will last a very, very long time.

My all-time favorite is Limelight, haven't been able to find it in years though. The outlet store up the road carries a bunch of the discontinued scents year round; makes it easy to grab presents for my friends who stock up on their favorite discontinued scents at the sales.

OMG more Juniper Breeze! I love that scent. Now I will have to go. I bought some awhile back and got hooked. I still have some left from the sale I got it from.

Yay! Another fan of Limelight! I dearly miss it & have been begging the company to bring it back since around 1999 or whenever they quit making it; it's easily my all-time favorite scent. Lately, there have been some shower gels popping up on ebay, but the "staying power" of the fragrance is gone, unfortunately. I don't know if you've tried B&BW's White Citrus yet, but it reminds me VERY strongly of Limelight, especially in body splash form. It's their newest fragrance and is available in pretty much all forms, though I haven't seen a body butter yet (and I ADORE B&BW body butters for heels and elbows!) They even released it in an aerosol cooling mist that's quite nice, especially if you store it in the fridge. :thumbsup2

Yeah, Juniper Breeze nearly always makes a comeback for the sale, for good reason. It's such a nice, clean scent. I just wish they'd vary things up a bit and throw some of us die-hards a bone every now and again with a totally unexpected "classic" making a comeback, like Happy Daisy or Limelight or something along those lines, instead of the same old tired Strawberry Lemonade, etc. Bleh.

I went today, and they had eight of the classic scents. Unfortunately, it didn't include my favorite, Rice Flower and Shea, which is a light vanilla-like scent with a good textured lotion (I may be crazy, but I think the feel of the lotions are different depending on the scent/botanicals). I asked and was told that some different ones will be coming in as the sale progresses, but that Rice Flower and Shea is not one of the ones scheduled. I hate to buy it on-line b/c of shipping.

Does anyone know whether the selection will be different in other states as I do have a vacation coming up?

I haven't tried it yet, been avoiding our local store since we're trying to move. Once we're settled in our new place though, I'm sure I'll swing by the store to replenish my stash, it sounds very nice. :thumbsup2

From what I've experienced, the selection's usually comparable from store to store, unless of course you luck out and somebody decides to return some RF&S to whatever store you go to. I've gotten a couple of things that way.

It doesn't look like they have any free-shipping specials right now, but there's a bath & body forum I post on that keeps a thread dedicated to posting coupon codes and the like, so you might try checking back there from time to time. That forum's also a good place to hear about where people are finding specific things that you might be looking for, as individual stores will ship to people, too (or at least they used to...I've never done it, so I'm not 100% sure if they still do). Good luck! RF&S is a really nice fragrance; my mom always has a bottle of the lotion in her kitchen. :goodvibes

I love Exotic Coconut and it's the only time when I can buy it. I usually use it as my summer scent. As I use Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin in the fall and Winter Candy Apple in the winter. ;)

My all-time favorite was Ginger Lime and I have never seen that make a comeback. :sad1: I do like the Sheer Freesia as well, so maybe I will wander over there today after work.

The other scents I REALLY wish they would bring back are the Kitchen Herb and Kitchen Spice hand soaps. They were awesome!
