Being a Disney veteran, I'm finding the unfamiliar world of Universal is stressing me out! I'm used to being very organized and not wasting time while in the parks, and since we're only going for 2 days, I want to maximize as much as possible. We are staying at RPR. So my dumb questions...the parking is at the Citywalk complex, right? How long does it take to walk back to RPR after you park? When you walk from RPR to US or IOA, are you going thru Citywalk? So it might be convenient to eat a meal at Citywalk because you are passing thru anyway? Like if you leave the park for a break, or go from one park to another. We will have a group of 9 people, so I like to have some idea of where we might eat to avoid wandering around aimlessly! Thanks.

I wouls say it is between a 5-10 min walk down a lovely path with very beautiful flowers. Yes, you do go to CityWalk and either go left over the bridge to IOA or go right and walk thrus Cirywalk to the other side for UNiversal. Not a long walk either around a a couple of minutes.

If you are staying onsite at RPR you park your car at their parking lot. You will not park at Citywalk. You then have the option of walking to the parks ( 5-10 minutes) or take the boats. They have a bus but it takes longer. The walking path will take you right to Citywalk by Margaritaville and close to the entrance of IOA. If you take the boat it will pit you right in the middle of Citywalk but closer to US.

Exactly right and really no need to park at Citywalk :thumbsup2

I have a HD POV video of the complete walk from RPR to IOA via Citywalk. It is an 8 minute video walking at a fair pace. I will post it here soon. :hippie:

Here is a map I made a while ago with all of Universal Resort.:thumbsup2

When you look at the photo posted above, look for RPR at the lower edge. You can see the hotel parking on one side of the hotel. On the other side of the hotel, you will see a waterway with an airplane in it (it's white). This is where the boat docks. The walkway also starts on the left side of the building (when looking at the photo). You can see the path (a white line that follows the edge of the waterway). Both the boat and the walkway travel under the highway which appears to separate RPR from the Citywalk/USF/IOA area. It's really quick and easy to use the walkway or the boat. Leave your car parked. Have a great trip.

OP, I felt like you before our April trip. You are going to be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to get around. We typically walked from RPR everyday...except when it was raining, then we used the boat.

The walk to IOA from our room took us 15 mins total. Walking from IOA to US is about 2 mins. lol

DH joked that bus dropoff at Epcot to entrance is farther than RPR to IOA.

My advice is don't stress over it (like I did). It's all quite simple esp compared to WDW.

I m staying at Lowes Portofino.I m visiting with 2 kids and they are not used to heat and walking. Will it better to use boat to both the parks?

My kids loved the boats, so generally we peeked to see if the boat was at the dock. If it was we took it, if it wasn't we walked. The exception was the end of the day when you feel like you had walked your feet off already. Then we were more likely to wait for the boat. We were pleasantly surprised at how often we walked right on the boat with no wait. After many many Disney trips spent with wasted time waiting on buses in the sun, this was fabulous!

from the photo, it looks like RPR in closer to IOA than HRH. I thought HRH is closest or is that only to US?

RPR is just a little farther from IOA than HRH is from US. But yes I believe it is closer to IOA than HRH is. Both walks are minimal!

HRH is the one closest to US and RPR is the closest to IOA :thumbsup2

If you don't mind the crudeness of the handheld motion, here is a video of the walk from RPR to CityWalk. It took me 8 minutes, and I know i could do it faster.

Unfortunately, this is a handheld camcorder and the video did not process as well as you might hope for when uploading.

I am "almost" ashamed to admit....we have never walked once to the parks from RP!!

We like the boat :thumbsup2

Saves the feet for the real park walking.

May consider walking it this year :rotfl2:

You should try it if going to IOA. Its not much farther than the boat to IOA. If going to the studios, then boat it is.:thumbsup2
