Basic question about paying with DD

My family and I will be using Disney Dining for the first time this trip, mainly because we got it as a "free" add-on. I'm actually looking forward to it, but have what may seem like a really stupid question. I've looked all over for an answer to this and haven't been able to find one, so here goes:

When it comes time to pay for the meal, do we ALL have to hand over a card? In other words: My sister is in a room with her husband and child; I'm in my own room; my parents are in another room. Do we ALL hand over our cards, or does one person from each room hand over the cards and the system does its magic, automatically deducting the right number of means from all three of the cards linked to the reservation in that room?

Am I even making sense? LOL

Thanks in advance@!

I would think that one card for each room would be required. For example if it is only you and your hubby in one room and your sister, hubby and 2 kids under 9 in another you would not be allowed to purchase more that 2 adult meals at a time with your KTTWC. For example I tried to order 4 adult CS meals back when they pooled the CS credits in a room without the distiction of adult vs child but when I went to pay I gave my child's card and was told I was only allowed to use 3 adult and 1 child credits. I believe that this pooling has been removed as an option as Disney has seen the loop hole most people were using.

Just tell the server that you need separate bills and then hand over 1 card per bill to pay with the dining plan. We have done it with other families and they are use to that.

one card per room, so if you're in the same room you can use the same card for all of you.

It's still pooled but you can't buy more adult meals than you have adults on the plan at any one time.

Doesn't matter for us anymore...DD is now 12 and we have been paying adult prices for a few years now. But good for others to know that they haven't closed the loop hole;)

Dining plan as a free add is is awesome. Your getting FREE food.

But you have to pay rack rate for the room. For some people free dining is a good deal, but for others a discount on the room is a better savings.

you can use 1 card per room, they have all your info. The plan is great, except we found ourselves eating too many desserts! :lmao:

I agree my kids laugh and say those darn disney desserts whn they grow out of their clothes...it's a running joke in our family!!! :rotfl2:

i am just curious when it comes to the CS. People say it is not sepearated child and adult yet they say you can't order more adult meals then adults. But my question is they say you can use your credits how ever you wish. So why couldn't I order 3 adult meals for 2 adults and 2 children and the next day order more kid meals then adult so it evens out in the end.

I don't know the answer. Never thought of trying. I imagine the Dis computers are pretty good and would catch that

Right on your KTTW card it says how many AD and CH are in your party. Can only get up to the number of adult and child meals listed on your card at any one time. You can order fewer meals, but not more.

Disney closed the loophole to prevent people from buying meals with the DDP for people who were not on the dining plans.

It's Disney's way of preventing you from buying meals for people not on the DDP.

If you are all on the same plan it doesnt matter which card you use.
